Photobucket - absolute shambles!

I'm sure most people will have seen that these morons have banned the use of their images being embedded on forums.

No warning to existing users, so now forums are awash with thumbnails telling people that they have to pay an extortionate amount to upgrade their accounts so that their images can be seen again!

What alternative sites do people use to host their images on forums as I need an alternative ASAP!

Thanks!

Seems like Flickr, google drive, and Imgur are some viable choices. Sucks they went down this path since they just drove away a good amount of their user base.

I've just registered for a Imgur account, but I liked the simplicity of the photobucket process!

Imgur seems to be almost a form of social media rather than just a plain old hosting site!

I honestly hope that photobucket pay a heavy price for their actions, it's a disgrace!

Yeah. Imgur is great. You can use it purely for it's hosting. No need to use the social aspect, posting comments e.t.c.

Imgur is the best image hosting I've found, mainly for simplicity.

What a dick move by photobucket!
I know it's sad but I've got a lot of build threads for other hobbies on other forums ect which will now be gash, and I look back on for reference a lot. Dog shit

Cheers for the ideas, tbh photobucket was great about 5 years ago, but now has so many ads! I think they are to push you to pay, but I have hundreads if not thousands of pictures on mine......

Rant over!

The problem is that if Photobucket have gone down this route, and it proves to be successful, other similar websites will follow and you'll be back to square one

Is it not possible for the forum to be updated so that is possible to upload photos strait to it? It would mean that there wouldn't be a need for another site that way.

That would double, triple, quadruple the costs of running this forum.

It would probably mean the admins would need to run advertisements or charge for a premium membership to the forum.

I've seen similar issues on other forums and the price users paid for a new feature was a trade off for something else that was annoying i.e. ads.

I have used Flickr for years, it's $25.00 a year for a pro account with unlimited storage.

Also, my other forum, rx8club.com lets you upload straight to the site to embed photos. They should do that here.

I found one called ImgBB that seems pretty good - simple, and doesn't appear to be cluttered with popups and ads either.

I started a similar thread when I discovered photofcukit had shafted everyone.

Someone suggested this:

Quote:
Also anyone using Chrome on a PC I found a way to restore photobucket images, once again who knows how long this will work for.

An example, on the left pay us pic, on the right the visible picture

Install the Chrome extension photobucket embed fix. available here - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...er-info-dialog

It might be wise to consider something like https://www.blogger.com to host photos, build thread, information going forward with the original photos, and web pages backed up to a USB hard drive.

Don't forget that imgur also forbids 3rd party linking in their T&Cs.

Talk with your feet and walk away. Pistonheads did this with the classified section, it used to be a place I always looked for cars... now I never go back.

Same will happen with photobucket. Plenty of other places to use
