50i here. 30k miles so far. No issues. Only oil changes. I would not own it without warranty.

Important to let it rip sometimes 60-roll (when you are in Mexico) to burn all the nasty deposits from direct injection
https://streamable.com/iquqm only made it to 6th gear, still 2 more gears to go

2014 X5 (F15) 50i - (n63tu) - second owner - 2k+ miles no issues mechanically. I would not own this vehicle w/o a warranty (Either BMW or Endurance extended). I am loving this vehicle, its a beast!

I just picked up a 15' 50i m sport that had 21.6k miles when I bought it (24.5k now). I have until 1/19 on the factory warranty, but I'm not planning to buy an extended warranty at this time.

Car forums are always full of horror stories, but the actual fail rate is much lower in reality.

Picked up a 15 50i a few weeks ago, still have Original Warranty and additional 2 year CPO. Did not get extended warranty but purchased the maintenance plan. CPO is a minimum for me when buying a used car.

Anyone here purchased BOTH extended warranty and maintenance? Both are expiring soon for me and on the fence whether I should extend them.

I bought a 2014 CPO 50i Msport with 68K on it to keep the miles off my 435i and I couldn't be happier. Knock on wood it doesn't randomly explode on me, but I love this thing so much, the 435 only comes out once or twice a month, and ive considered just selling it AND the X5 to just get a newer X5. I had no idea these were such nice vehicles until I got a 2018 X5 35i as a loaner and figured with twice the power in a tuned 50i, it would be perfect.

I had a 2011 550i before this and always hated going in for service and getting the "well we found a leak while changing the oil, going to need it a week for repairs", and I bought the 435 for the fun factor and fuel economy while still being fun to drive, but its tough to juggle two cars when my daily driver with a tune will spank the pants off my 435 with a turbo upgrade, methanol and full bolt ons, as well as hook off the line since its X drive. I have 7K left on the CPO warranty and maintenance contract so I have about 5K miles to make up my mind

I was quoted $6400 for the BMW warranty to get me another 2 years and 25K miles added on to the CPO (7 year 100K) , and it only continues the CPO coverage, it isn't a full factory warranty like if you buy it when new. For that cost, id need the engine to completely fail to pay itself off in 2 years, which makes it incredibly tough to justify. That being said, I have a BMW Visa and the points can be used towards a warranty, so if I have enough points saved up before my CPO expires, and im not buying a new vehicle, I may spring for it, or at least knock a decent chunk out of it.

Undecided... I wanted to get an X5M eventually, but the 50i is more than enough power, super comfortable, and with the M sport, also looks aggressive. Id never buy a BMW less than 2 years old just due to the falling off a cliff resale, but I could see myself next year snagging a 17-18 lease return or lightly used. Im moving for work in 6 months and was going to put the 435i in storage for a bit, but im half debating just selling it, using this for a while, and then getting a nice one!

I'm currently sitting on a 15 50i and debating if I should wait out for the new X5 M50i or get my first hand on it when it's finally released..now all social media is flooded with the new X5 ads so tempting

Hi there, I brought that car last Dec, a fully loaded 14 50i msport, 19k miles and cost me $54k Canadian dollar including tax. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me at that time.

The 50i drives amazing. I had a 12 335i with mppk, but the power it’s not in the same level compare to this v8tt beast.

After half year ownership, the only problem that I had was the soft automatic door unlatched on me several times, and dealer fixed it under warranty. Sounds like a common problem... Otherwise, it’s all good, figure crossed...

I think the reliability wise, it's pretty solid so far. But I still brought 3 years extended warranty, so I can sleep well at night.

Anyway, let's keep each other updates.

Cheers!~

Most important thing is that ZF8 transmission is very reliable and N63TU seems like it has avoided N63 fate so far. It's been 4 years since debut. Some owners got 100k knock on the wood. N63 already had lots of issues by this time. No issues with turbos afaik.

So far the only relatively common issues are steering wheel servo motor can stop adjusting and soft closer option may not work sometimes. Besides these gremlins I haven't heard much of anything else. Even these 2 issues are relatively rare. There's 1 thread about steering wheel and couple complains about soft closure mechanism.

Now when 4th gen. is on the way - I think it's time to finally say that N63TU and f15 are "lucky" to not be plagued by serious issues and imho they will age very well.
