Near side mirror "dipping" to far in reverse
Hi all,
I have just got a new G31 after driving the older style 520d for a couple of years. The new car is so much better than its predecessor, but I have a question. When I select reverse, the near side mirror dips to allow me to see the kerb (I know it's a configurable option). However, the mirror in the new car seems to dip far lower than in the previous car... and often means that I need to cancel the feature (with the mirror selection switch) so that I can see further back as I reverse, before re-enabling it when I have nearly completed the manoeuvre. Is there any adjustment for how far the mirror dips? |

Why they didn't allow for user adjustment defies logic. It's a design oversight for sure. Good for kerb avoidance but useless for parking. I recall seeing a thread where guys were discussing some adjustment via coding, not sure how easy that is though.

I reckon majority of G30/31s got cameras. Thus dipping the mirror properly to see the curb works well for me.

In the UK, reversing camera is an option - either by itself or as part of the 'comfort access' pack.
I too have issues with the passenger side mirror dipping far too low (in my opinion) when reversing. Will explore if possible to do via BimmerCode when I get a spare moment (I have an OBD module plus the relevant app, but not sure if possible this way - as opposed to 'proper' coding via ESys. I recall something about HEX values to determine the angle it lowers by... ) |
