Guess that depends on your setup: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=170
Put some AP’s on that monster of yours and you’ll be able to run better tire options on track, and save a ton of weight in the brakes/wheels/tires than regular M2C’s. Last edited by ZM2; 06-27-2020 at 09:35 AM.. |

Thanks for the link. I had high hopes for the RE71R on track, but something about that tire and my GT4 and me didn't mix. I ended up destroying the center rib of the left front tread surface in one day at Lime Rock. Might have been overinflation--I was running about 32-33psi front hot, and some recommend as low as 30psi hot--but nonetheless disappointing. Back to the PSCup2 for now...

Altho, it’s a very easy tire to kill when it’s warm or hot, and it takes a lot of patience not to overheat it, which gets old after a while. Your pressures were fine, it’s just an easy tire to kill. The Yoko is supposed to be much more durable at higher temps, but I don’t have first hand experience, yet. I couldn’t find any 19” tires I thoroughly enjoyed on track, so back to the 18’s! |

Also saw three 911s blowout rear R888R sidewalls in one weekend, with one almost going into the wall. |

Tons of options in this segment now. Falkens sound interesting. If they were noticeably cheaper and came in 19's (curse you beautiful M2C brakes!!) i'd give them a shot. |

Btw, I find Tire Rack’s test to be pretty decent, even if they’re more street focused. Here are a couple with the V12 getting beaten by two tires that were beaten by the MPSS in a second review: https://m.tirerack.com/tires/tests/t...b=ResultCharts https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests...y.jsp?ttid=148 As for MPSS vs MP4S, dry grip is negligibly better, but wet and cold grip of the 4S is a decent bit better. You won’t find that in the TR tests, tho. Last edited by ZM2; 06-27-2020 at 05:46 PM.. |

I’m excited to try the A052 eventually. Looking forward to hearing some experiences on heavier cars.
I intended to pick some up a few weeks ago but then saw RS4 at 25% off at Tire Rack. I’ve been running them for the last year and really like them, so I couldn’t resist. Maybe I’ll get to the A052 late this year or at the start of the next season. My wife has 5 days now on the A052. She’s in a 718 Cayman, so not really comparable for us, but they’re holding up well and probably have a couple days left. No tearing/chunking or overheating. Outside shoulder is on the left in this photo. Last edited by bentom2; 06-28-2020 at 12:18 AM.. Reason: Added photo of tire tread |

This would be for HDPEs - I notice my MPS4S getting real greasy towards the 2nd half of the day - I'm assume this is due to the MPS4S's being street tires and not being able to handle high heat for long. |

Do you have camber plates installed? If not, you’ll kill any track tire really quickly without a proper track alignment. As for the tire, two schools of thought: 1. If you’re still learning the limits of the car, a track tire with less grip may be a better intermediate step. 2. If you feel very comfortable with the car at the limit, get the A052 and take your level of “comfort” a couple notches higher. For better, for worse, I tend to jump headfirst into things to try to learn quickly, so I’d opt for the A052 so you can learn its limits as a new baseline going forward. I am running the MP Coilovers, so I do have some slight camber, but definitely not enough as I notice more wear on the inner shoulder of my MPS4Ss. I'll take a look into camber plates, although I'm weighing the performance gain vs. potential warranty issues haha - I might have to get real good at swapping the camber plates in and out whenever I bring it in for warranty work. I have roughly 10 HDPEs under my belt already, which probably isn't all that much, but I feel like I'm ready to step from MPS4Ss as I dislike only being able to get a good few laps per session before they start falling off. |

The camber plates will definitely pay for themselves, vs killing soft track tires prematurely. Most dealers won't hassle you regarding warranty if you have camber plates on, but you may want to ask in the regional forum section for input on which local dealers are more "mod" friendly. Just don't let the dealer do your track alignment. You should find a good local race shop, and those guys will be much better at dialing it in. As for settings, you'll find a ton of input in various threads, but let us know if you get confused on anything. |
