2 Winters and 2 Summer tire setup?

Hey all,

So i recently bought a set of blizzaks from Gary @ tirerack (GREAT service by the way), but i don't have them all in my possession as yet. I had them shipped to my sister's in the US, and being from Canada, I've thus far have 3 of the 4 here with me. Anyhow, a friend of mine suggested putting on the 2 rear snows in the meantime.....so, the question is,

What are your thoughts on this? I personally don't think it's a great idea, but has anyone done anything similar? Just an FYI, i'm running 189 Bridgestone 18" RFTs......

I think you're friend doesn't know what he is talking about. It is not recommended to mix winter tires of any kind, never mind performance on the front and winter on the rears.

Its going to be warm for the next 10 days, whats the rush for ..

I wouldn't do it. I ran winter tires on the front and all-seasons on the rear on a Honda Accord many years ago, and spun out badly on the highway. I'll never forget how surprised I was as the car was spinning. You'll never see this combination recommended. Ever.

+1

In case of an emergency breaking, the ESP and the ABS will be completely inefficient...

Yes, *much* too easy to spin out given the drastically different levels of traction between todays summer tires and winter tires.
