If you're near Fabspeed hit them up, they said they were looking for an M240 to use to make a cat-back kit.

Hoping for the m performance unless a few of the aftermarkets use the valve. Wife has always hated my exhaust but I feel like with the m performance we'll both be happy. We'll see what hits the market first.

A catted DP with stock exhaust adds a decent amount of growl to the car without being obnoxious imo.

how much is a catted DP vs a typical cat-back exhaust? How hard/how much labor to install either?

Cat back is typically an hour. Easier with a life but plenty of people do it at home with jack stands or ramps. A 2nd pair of hands also goes a long way.

I'm not sure about the down pipe. My bigger issue with the downpipe is it has potential to void turbo warranty. So I'm not quite ready to do that yet.

I was hoping to do a downpipe when available, but thought the only real concern was an O2 sensor code...BMW may void the warranty on the turbo?

https://carperformanceboss.com/will-...void-warranty/

Also going back through 3/4 series forums I got the same vibe. It shouldn't mess with anything but it could be a reason to deny turbo warranty.

It's like anything else they have to prove that was the failure, but for me I'll wait until the cars got some more mileage before I mess with that

DP is generally going to be cheaper than a full CBE. It can actually add performance as well. Yes there is always a possibility a dealership will try and be pissy about an aftermarket DP, but burden of proof of failure is on the dealership. Plus DP upgrades are very common and generally considered safe. If you're that worried about it though, don't modify the car at all, or wait for BMW to release their M performance upgrades.

Install time is an hour or 2 and fairly simple. Did mine in my garage by myself on quick jacks.

Any Supra/M340/M440 DP will work. All the same. Get a quality catted one and it won't throw a CEL.

I have a 230i, so I could I assume any B48/46 downpipe would work?

I honestly have no idea. Haven't done any research on the B48. Sorry.

I always thought a tune was needed to really make a DP come alive. I was surprised to see people installing them with no tune. I guess the stock ECU has the parameters to safely adjust for it?

I'm looking into getting the AWE Touring exhaust, anyone know if the G20 M340i version would fit? I'm assuming the setup is very similar if not identical. Any comments are helpful
