Beaver has landed

Picked it up this afternoon. Love it! It's so so much better in person and the drive is amazing!

IDrive 8 - definitely a step up and much more intuitive. I'll share my experience in a couple weeks

Very nice. I almost put down a deposit but I have to walk past the front of my car parked in my garage to get to my home office. Many times a day. I just can't get past seeing the beaver teeth each time.

I have test driven it and it is otherwise a great car.

You'll grow to love it. It's a statement and create a presence on the road. Eye turner for sure.

If so much of a bother …. Walk behind it 🤪

Yeah it looks amazing in person, and I was definitely a detractor initially.

Congrats on the new ride !
Got the same config on order (black exterior + castanea interior).

How does castanea look in person ? Is it closer to brown or to red ?
Love it now on picture but haven't seen it in person and afraid to grow tired of it.

I have had years to get accustomed to it and haven't. Walking around it isn't realistic as I will see it as soon as I enter a garage.

Could I learn to live with it, of course I could. We learn to live with a lot. But if I am going to spend around or north of $100K, it should be something I find attractive. It is not like there are not other choices out there. Like the Lucid!

The Lucid isn't an SUV though. The only 'large' SUV out there right now other than the iX is the Tesla Model X that couples ridiculous gull wing doors with the general slightly cheap (in my opinion) Tesla look.

I do get the dislike of the grills as when I first saw the i4 I thought the buck teeth looked ridiculous and when I saw the iX I couldn't ever imagine getting one. But then I realised there was no real competition and the tech was crazy good, so I decided to give one a try and I was shocked at how 'normal' it looks in person. Unless you're a 'car guy/gal', you'd just think it's a regular BMW SUV driving past.

I will say though, the iX (and actually the i4 in particular) look better with a plate on the front and in the US you typically skip those for some bizarre reason.

I skip those because I don't want holes drilled in the front of my car, or permanent tape attached to pull off the finish. And the front plate holder is usually attached by self-threaded plastic screws that eventually strip the holes and have to be glued in place - most states require an annual sticker that usually means removing the plate. And the US plates are about three times the size of European plates.

I agree with you on the Euro plate. The US style plate would not help...might even be worse.

Day 4 update short update

It's bloody fast! - noting this is the iX 40!

Loving the Castanea interior with the black exterior - that new car smell - wish I could bottle it

BMW - they know how to do tech! - hands down. Tesla don't stand a chance

Tech Personalization to your hearts content

HK - sounds better. Compares to GO5

AG maps 👌🏽

You don't feel you are driving a >2 ton of a car

Solid build quality as always

Idrive display - it's a fingerprint magnet

I've got the bling to please the Mrs - yes it catches the glare - be careful

Next update - into the deep tech menu

I don't need an SUV and actually prefer a sedan. Hence the Lucid is my first choice. But there is another SUV alternative...a bit out there but the IX is sold out as well...the Cadillac Lyriq two motor version. That has now become my second choice.

I agree with so much of what you say. If only BMW had a talented designer.
