Dropping things rear floor vents?

Just went for a test drive in the iX and placed an order. One thing we noticed is in the rear back seats under the front seats, the air vents are exposed and huge. We have two toddlers and are thinking they will throw toys and food in there. Anyone have a any good floor mats to cover these up?

I noticed the same thing. Not sure if they have a screen as I did not look at it too much. I could see some food from kids going down there.

You really don't want to cover those up otherwise you lose half of your AC in the rear. I wouldn't worry too much about stuff getting into these as they're outlet vents so the air is being blown out, which should push most stuff out that might fall in.

Air Vents in iX - MAJOR ISSUES

You ABSOLUTELY have to worry about these vents.

This is the worst design and profoundly silly. There is an acorn that rolled into the air vent and now BMW says that it will charge $750 to get that out from the vent. The silly acorn rolls every time you break or make a turn and its most annoying. Of course, it is not covered under warranty and my car is barely a year old in October 23.

If you have children, this stuff is a magnet for all things that roll and stink.

They don't seem to affect air flow very much, if any, easy to install, easy to remove, not very expensive, attractive and effective. Unless you were looking for a different solution....

I found them in the same thread and also installed this weekend. Can confirm every word, they only take a few minutes to install, and don't obstruct airflow or the ambient lightning. Look surprisingly in place for a $30 accessory. I'd recommend this to every iX owner regardless of the kids. Adults drop things, too.

Agree. I just installed them too.

Just to clarify for anyone else considering these - they can be put just on top of the existing ones in 60 seconds. No need to remove the existing.

Yep…seems like a pretty big design gap in an otherwise well designed interior. I bought and installed the referenced covers. I have young grandkids; little trinkets, a marble, or a coin could create a very difficult to remove rattle.
