Pic Request: Light Burl Walnut (2009)

Can anyone post good pics of the new light burl walnut trim?

I think the "light" might refer to the burl rather than the color.

Here's one with flash, and one without on an overcast day. It's definitely not especially light. The salesguy and I thought they really should call them 'Dark Burl Walnut' and 'Not quite as Dark Burl Walnut'.

I've seen both the 09 dark and light wood choices up close. I give the light burl a big thumbs down.

The dark burl still looks fine.

That's one good thing about this forum. You never worry about people failing to tell you their opinions. I'm always full of them.

Light burl is nice. Dark burl looks like whale vomit.

Counterpoint.

That seems almost as dark as my dark wood, it just has a different pattern.

Trust me, you don't want light burl walnut. It doesn't really work well in a car, more for the kitchen.

The dark burl is fine. I wish BMW had kept the light poplar wood, which is much better.

Thanks for the pics. I like It. Reminds me of the satin cherry I saw in a 550.

It seems to be missing the burl pattern all together. I think the dark burl looks outdated and played. Plus, everyone has it.

Now the decision: light burl or aluminum.

Nice for a coffin, not a car.

They do the trim in any car, not just E39's (best cars)

I agree with the light poplar wood, BMW should have kept this it really had alot of nice markings in the wood, not too dark not too light...here is a pic of someone's car I saved in my photo bucket cause I really really liked this wood with black interior and this photo shows it best, sorry I don't know whose car this is I just saved the pic.

This is black leather w/ BMW's previous Light Poplar Wood

Light Poplar was nice.

I saw the Light walnut in person and it is dark.

Also saw the 09 Alum which is much improved over the 08 Alum, which looked like gray plastic. 09 has a brushed look w/ more depth.

Alum it is.

I have black leather w/ light poplar, in a Sparkling Graphite E90.

That photo above is what convinced me to do it, and I don't regret it for a second. The lighter wood color breaks up the black interior, and the graining of the wood is much more obvious and interesting than the darker colors.

About three days before I picked up the car (Performance Center Delivery), I freaked out, terrified I had made a horrible choice. I literally thought about what it might take to swap it out. I had chosen it sight-unseen. Within seconds of seeing the car, I knew it was the right decision. But seeing the new Light Burl Walnut, I know that I'd not buy sight-unseen again, because I don't think the BMW Web site captures how truly unappealing it is.

This looks great! The new light Burl looks awful. It looks like dark contact paper.

Different strokes for different folks. The photo above would scare me away in a second. Too much contrast and draws way too much focus on the wood for my taste. The light burl walnut is a much better accent color for black, IMHO.

i went with the light burl (sight unseen). looks like the same shade/color as the dark burl, just different grain/pattern (less busy). guess im in for a surprise when i pick up my car in munich!

didn't like the light poplar at all. looks sorta like leopard print. and the dark burl is too common.

Just think of what an old man would want in his car, and that's what it looks like.
