Intake for m240

Anyone know if an intake would actually give an power gains? Seem many tuners say b58 stock intake is the best and aftermarket all heat soak.

None of the data supports that there is any real world gain on HP, some make 5-10HP claims, never going to notice that. All you get is a louder intake with less filtration. I just see it as a waste of $500, rather use the $ on something else.

Eventuri actually claims close to 20 hp, yet no supporting evidence and a $1,500 price tag.

I bought one for the sound. If it makes any extra power I'd be surprised.

I'll have to report back after I get the car back and it's installed.

Cool. Eventuri should offer $50 off for every hp exaggerated. I like their setup but won't spend $1,500 for sound and looks under the hood.

From what I understand, realistically, you're only gonna be making 0-3hp extra. Probably 0. I have a Dinan, sounds good.

It's a sound mod, just like exhaust. The only time intake is going to make a difference is if your car or tune is not getting enough air.

But it does sound sweet though.

Can you post a video clip? I'd love to hear it..thinking maybe the exposed filter gives more noise, at the cost of warmer intake air

That intake is the definition of a hot air intake. Inches away from the turbo with no heat shield.

Yeah I would think it would heat up quickly. Plus interesting that it fit given the fact that the turbo is in a slightly different location.

personally I'm gonna go with either MST or DINAN. Most likely MST cause I want the clear heat shield.

Sound is better, power is no different, heat is most likely not enough diff to make a difference either.

I've just taken delivery of and fitted the MST Intake. Dramatic turbo suction sound increase, lovely flutter on liftoff and slightly better throttle response.
