Is Zaino Z-7 wash completely necessary?

I'm using Zaino products on my car right now, and I ran out of Z-7 a while back. I liked Z-7, but man was it expensive! $8 plus shipping for a 16 oz bottle of Z-7 compared to say $12 for a 64 oz bottle of Meguiar's Gold Class, and you can pick that up at just about any auto parts store and not have to order online. Is Z-7 that good I should be using it over any other wash, or would Gold Class do. I know Zaino is huge about using only their products and adhering to the "Zaino" system, but I figured it could be their way of getting people to only use their products as well.

You're fine with the Meguiar's.

From DavidN's excellent Detailing 101 writeup: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=158378 (It's also here on e90post as a sticky.)

Q: Do I need to use Z7 as my car wash?
A: No. Any quality car wash will do. But you will be hard pressed to find a car wash better than Z7.

I really like CG Maxi Suds II, as a maintenance wash it works great, and smells good too, and it's much more reasonably priced if you go with the gallon size.

Thank you for relaying me back to the Detailing 101 thread, I can't believe I didn't go there to see if it was in the FAQ. I guess that pretty much answers my question!
