Phone charging tray

I have an iPhone 14 that when placed in the charging tray slides all over the place so it never stays in the sweet spot to charge. Anyone have a solution to this?

I’ve just been keeping it in my pocket and sometimes cup holder. Kind of defeats the purpose of the tray!

Agreed. My LCI doesn't have one Im used to it now I suppose. Slightly off topic but, when I utilized the charging tray in my '20 M550 the damn iPhone would get ridiculously hot,so I just used the cable instead.

In my GT I use a high power 12v adapter and a Apple Magsafe charger.
It just sits on the tray over the cup holders. Works well.
So far in the MC I've only used the charging tray a couple time.

The tray when charging is useless if actually using the phone for carplay etc. Just overheats and charges inconsistently. I ended up installing a nice little discreet vent magnetic mount and use a 12" charging cable to plug into the USB by the pad. Hasn't failed once.

Here you go you really don’t get the effect without seeing the phone attached looks pretty clean and out of the way of the iDrive screen. Mount is a penom off Amazon, but the last time I looked, I couldn’t find another😣

I bought one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08GY...b_b_asin_title

The tray itself is a rubber like material. My phone doesn’t slide around. Works nicely…I’m a charge my phone overnight kind of person so I really don’t know how well the charger works since my phone is never really dead when I’m in my car.

If your phone is in a silicone case it shouldnt be sliding at all? I have a pixel 6 pro in a case and its fine, even when driving aggressive, dont use hard cases they are worthless.

Yeah, I have a silicone case and my phone doesn't slide very much. The only issue that I have is that my Iphone 14 pro max doesn't charge. No matter how I've tried, I cannot get it to charge, so I've accepted my fate and now resort to charging via the USB C cable in the armrest.

I've got the same issue and honestly the one thing that kills me is that ProClip doesn't have a great solution for the X3M, they're my go to phone holder, have used them for all my other cars, but the X3M solution is similar to what's been posted above basically just clips into the air vent which does WORK, but visually it's a bit... less than ideal.

On my 2020 X3MC and iPhone XS Max I have a pretty thick case but it still charges (and stays put). I think it has to do with how thick the case is near the battery.

To the OP, a silicone or rubber case keeps it still but another idea may be to install some rubber bumpers around the corners of where you would put your phone to keep it from sliding around.

I would just use a drop of hot glue to adhere them so it was removeable.

Strange, I have a 13 Pro Max and it charges without any issues through the oem Apple leather case. Same with my S20 FE with a silicon case. No problems charging and they don't get too hot even when running CarPlay or AA.

Yeah, I dunno what's up with it. It works on every other wireless charger, but won't work in the car. I've tried without the case as well . . . everyone (kids, wife, even my mother) else's phone charges fine.
