I was going for Dinan but it is supposedly not fully sealed. That would mean heat soaked air would go into air intake.

The Eventuri AI is just too much (relative price) for this car so went with Injen which is sealed. It just doesnt have the fancy carbon fiber that Eventuri has.

I still have to figure out when it will be installed but will let you know.

Something I saw on the Supra FB group the other day. Just wanted to share. I canceled my order for that reason.

I'm ok with not being sealed, it will let more of those sound waves out.

Yes more sound is always good.

But supposedly heat soaked air pulls power away or runs engine way hotter for longer periods of time which could affect engine longevity and components of the engine. For example 1st/2nd gen lambos engine run really really hot that usually any engine over 50k kms should have the top engine gaskets be all changed due to it being brittle due to longivity of extreme heat and cause sweating and leaks from the engine.

Ive seen many other positive posts from Injen but would like to the see the whole story on the Supra.
Keep in mind those air filters are pretty common in a lot of CAIs and all made in china.

Wow , what could have caused that ?!

Some type of chemical solvent ? Brake fluid ? Extreme heat ?

Fuel/oil vapor would be my initial guess.

Hmm, there are probably hundreds of thousands of Injen intakes installed on vehicles across the globe. If this type of disintegration was caused by common oil and fuel vapor , there would be many more instances of this happening . This is the first time I've ever heard of it happening

My guess is that before the person installed it, maybe while the filter was on the garage floor or a workbench , it came in contact with a puddle of solvent or some other corrosive fluid . Or maybe it was sprayed off with brake cleaner before install.

Who knows , i don't have facebook to follow up with that Supra post

Typically, no.

Minor mods like intake, exhaust, downpipe etc. will do fine with the stock tune. The ECU will adjust for the minor increase of air flow / exhaust flow.

But of course a tune would let you squeeze a bit more power out of these type of simple bolt on mods.
