Update on new 335i M Sport Touring
I detailed it today and all was well until I got to the rear bumper. The rear diffuser has been marked and the rear bumper, probably in transit. Call to the dealer, I am not at all happy. Resolution is, new diffuser which they will supply me and they are paying for the car to be professionally detailed and corrected as necessary.
I am still not happy because of all the inconvenience but I will get a good result in the end. Further rant, you would have thought that after spending £42k on a car the least that I could expect would be that it would have no bad blemishes on it. Has anybody else experienced this type of damage on a new car? I will post further pictures once the car has been professionally detailed and corrected. Steve |

Steve, I have seen brand new Astons delivered with the most god-awful swirl marks and pigtails in the paint... the fact that dealers can't clean cars properly before delivery to customers is well documented, and to be honest can only be expected because they just don't have the time to do a good job. Think how long it takes to wash a car properly, to ensure there are no marks and blemishes in the paint. Do you think a dealer can devote that amount of time to prepping a car?? Certainly, nicks and dents and scuff marks shouldn't be on the car, and the fact your car was delivered with them means the dealer was simply careless. At least you have managed to get the parts replaced accordingly, which is something I imagine a lot of people would struggle to get resolved, given the stubborness and thoughtlessness of most dealer networks these days...

I guess the further they have to travel, the greater the risk, Its a shame UK BMW customers cant pick their cars up from the BMW Welt, where as all the other punters from Europe can. Last edited by the_oracle; 03-01-2009 at 10:37 AM.. Reason: typo |

I dont think bmw would sell those cars as ''Brand new'', Demo's only. Thats how Audi do it. They had a top of the range TT in 2007 which was due to come in Brand new. The dealership was supposed to recieve it In Jan last year, but had a phonecall saying the windscreen was cracked SOME CRaACK, it turned up 3 months later with specific instructions it MUST be sold as a Demo only. This was because it was damaged quite badly. So it was sold as a demo. So beware Demo buyers.

Old* neighbours bough a brand new Fiat only to find out later by an independant that it had been damaged in transit, and as car was unregistered it had been repaired and sold as new.
To say they were furious was an understatement but apparently its not uncommon for cars to be repaired without the 1st / new owners knowledge. * by which I mean we don't live next to them anymore.
