It is about contained versus vented to the atmosphere. Crankcase breathers tend to be a bit stinky and the oil can condense in the engine bay.

What about going thru the catch can first and then venting to atmosphere?

This way the oil is separated and the fumes won't be sucked in thru the intake , right?

This has been discussed, but I am not convinced there is a benefit. My pipes are bone dry now with my BSH catch can, so I am not sure there is a need to the breather as well.

bwhahaha

what part is that...classic

get a catch can, there is no reason to vent to atmosphere, plus the engine wants some vacuum on the crankcase i'm sure.
