Leather seats creasing
After less than 3 weeks' use I have noticed that both the passenger and driver's seats are developing distinct creases to one side of the seat bases. (LH side on driver and RH side on passenger). None of my previous cars with leather have ever developed such creases and I was wondering if this is a common issue with the sports seats in the coupe? Has anyone else noticed this? Couldn't find any references when I searched the forum.
I'm considering whether I need to get it looked at by my dealership. Cheers

Mine is exactly the same, rear left corner on drivers seat, seems due to when getting in the car, sliding into the seat and the leather bunches up slightly. I doubt there's much can be done, i would just consider it part of the character of leather being a natural material.

ive always had the same in all my previous bmws as well as the coupe.
Its a shame it happens, but like the previous said, theres probably nothing you or the dealer can do, and just a natural characteristic I'd be interested to see what the dealer does say if you tell them about it, keep us informed if you can. |

Happened to my former 2 Alfa's too. Isn't there a way to moisterize the leather again?

Cheers guys. I guess it's a 'characteristic' of the car then. Don't think that after less than 3 weeks' ownership the leather should need moisturising yet Catscratch, but I'll give them a clean at the weekend just to see.
I may mention it when I pop into the dealer in the next coupe of weeks, but as you say I doubt there'll be much they can do. I was just suprised because the rest of the car seems to be built to such a good standard. As I said, I have had leather seats before and not had the same creasing occur. My RX8 leather still looked perfect after 3 years...although the seat design was very different come to think of it.

On my Z4 the base part (which your bum sits on) got a bit of a shine to it after a while, but so far the coupe seats look fine. I think the backrest part at the side is creasing more on mine:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1166794470 I'm worried that the Jade Gray will start to turn blue with wearing jeans too often!

Don't sit on those seats after you've been out in the rain then! Thinking of jeans, my daughter has a new pair of 'designer ' jeans and the pockets are absolutely covered in rivets. I have forbidden her to wear them anywhere near the car in case she damages the leather or leans against the paintwork! She thought I was joking. I'm not! Also told her to take her muddy trainers off before getting in the car the other day. I think she dislikes me more than the average 15 year old dislikes their parents at the moment. :rocks: I told her not to worry as I would borrow a mate's old banger next time I have to pick her up from wherever...in front of mates...and boyfriend. Suddenly she's being co-operative!

Add another to the list the squab on my driver seat is very creased....
Never had this before..sounds like a manufacturing issue to me. Are all the affected seats with the sports seats option (Standard on 335'S)

i have mine delivered only last thursday 4th Jan 2007, but i have already noticed the unusual prematured creases developed on my driver's seat after putting a mere 300 miles on the clock, they were barely visible on my last 3 years old E46 (they are both in black). i would have therefore agreed with red355 that it could be a manufacturing issue!

Are we talking about major creasing or just light ripple marks on the leather?

well, mine are not creasing all over the place, just some ripple marks, but they are quite deep and very noticable. to me, it's totally unacceptable for a brand new seat in a five days old car with only 300 miles on the clock!
NB. i am a 5'9" and 12 stones average size guy.

I agree that it is unacceptable. The crease on my driver's seat is becoming progressively worse and it looks as though the leather is bunching up on one side. As the leather was an expensive option I shall have to make the trip to the dealer I think.

My leather looks like new still (it's been almost a 1.5 years). I put on that ext/int protection thing for $80 (fat hook up) and conditioned/cleaned it twice since I picked it up.

Agreed RockIt, for me the leather and sports seats were about £1600 in total if I remember correctly. Someone post some pics to let us see how bad this actually is. Mine seems reasonable (i think) so far. :-)

Too wet...too cold...too hot for January...the ice-caps are melting...the world's going to end...would anyone like a nice cup of tea? etc.etc. Got to have something to stress about or we'd all end up enjoying life too much. Still not happy about that leather though... I'll try and post some pics when I get a chance Z4.

Have the dealer check them out nonetheless. If its more than the casual butt prints and leather creases it might be a defective or mispositioned passenger recognition mat that lies directly under the material on the seat base. I had some slight visual creasing/bulging and lumpy texture on the leatherette of my passenger seat base and it was diagnosed as a faulty/defective passenger recognition mat.
