Could these winter tires fit?

Hey everyone,

I have a set of barely used Dunlop WinterSport M3's that I've had hanging around my garage from my 350Z days. I just purchased an '07 e90 335i and am wondering if these tires could possibly fit my sport package 18's. Eventually I'd like to get a dedicated set of wheels for the winter, but for now I'd like to try to use these if they fit... I'm thinking they are just out of the realm of acceptable, but heres the specs anyway:

F: 225/45-18
R: 245/45-18

From Tire Rack, my OEM sizes are:

F: 225/40-18
R: 255/35-18

Too different? Different in the wrong areas?

Any input is appreciated.

They would fit your wheels, but the overall diameter would be different...causing speedo & odometer errors. Plugging the specs into the calculator at the top of this page, the fronts would be .9 inches larger (3.4% difference in speed) and the rears are 1.6 inches larger (6.2% difference in speed). At those differences, I would say they wouldn't be safe to use, not to mention the traction control/ABS may throw errors with these larger tires.

Agreed. The rears are too tall for sure.

Another thing to remember is that altering the overall diameter is one of the few ways of getting your entire warranty voided as this is technically odometer tampering.

I run 255/40/18's out the back for my winter set up, but 45 is too much.
