Question Scamera Vans - directional?

which way to mobile scamera vans "get" you?

i came round a corner (in my shiny new 335) and was probably doing 37ish in a 30 and i was driving towards the back end of the scamvan... are they direction based like the gatsos/tuvelos?

surely its against the law for them to prosecute on the first day of E92 ownership... surely!?

I think they are direction-based- relative to the side of the road they are on, but don't rely on that as FACT!

Glad you got some info from that site!

All the best.

The key with the mobile vans is they have an opening window or door. The camera has to point through the open window and not through glass. If you could see the window or door open then it's quite likely they were observing your lane. Good luck.

Chris

It's well worth checking out your local area on the speed camera map, which also shows regular mobile sites: http://www.speedcameramap.co.uk/

Another good site is http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/

Fingers crossed, if the windows aren't open the camera can't work properley. They do normally work out of the rear of the van (sometimes side door on those Peugeot thingies) often on the other side of the road. The location used must have a straight view (allowed about 10 degrees off I think) of the lane they are monitoring so often the other side of the road is used on the exit of left handed bends.

Regards

Chris

They can catch you in either direction. The only time you are safe is if they are moving.
