euro style..

a common look on the euro/VW scene is to have v wide wheels (usually deep dish), that extend out beyond the rear fenders..
has anybody seen any e9x's with this look, or got a similar set up on their beamer?

also, on an e92, if you wanted to go for this look, but also wanted the car to be as low to the ground as possible (airrunner), what would the best sized wheel to get?

i have seen some rides here that as LOW, but the rear wheels end up being hidden behind the arches..

I'm not sure if it's a state or federal thing, but it's often illegal for your wheels to extend past the fender. That's why you see so many 4x4's sporting stuck-on fender lips to extend to the edge of their mud tires.

And not onl getto... just plain stupid. What's the thought process?

"Oh yeah... I'm going to pay for a wide rim... and then cover only 80% of its width with rubber."

What's next... really large rotors with VERY small calipers and pads because you don't want to ruin the look of the rotor?

File this under the more money than brains category...

Mines have pretty aggressive offsets but the fronts has not arrived yet. I have to run 255/30 tires and im getting -2 camber tomorrow with fender rolling. hopefully that will fix the rubbing.. but heres some pics.

"Pretty aggressive?" The lip on your rim is NAKED!

There is a REASON why low profile tires have a bead line on the base of the side wall, it is INTENDED to line up to the lip of the rim, both for bracing/lateral stabilization and to protect the rim.

This "look" is a by-product of a fad perpetuated by uninformed individuals fitting the wrong size tires to the wrong rims with the wrong offsets.

This is essentially the automotive equivalent of walking around with baggy jeans hanging between your knees. Disgusting.

Sorry. It had to be said. All the issues of aesthetics aside (or lack thereof), there is simply NOTHING functionally correct about your setup... there is however, MUCH wrong with it.

I looked into my crystal ball and I see poor cornering, excessive inner tread wear and split well paint in your future.

Oh... it'll fix the rubbing problem. That's for sure.

I don't like this look all. Reminds me of those lowriders on airbag suspensions (with the really small rims)...doesn't inspire a "Euro sporty" look...

To each his own, I suppose.

Actually... please don't. I hope good sense will prevail and you'll STOP before you continue with the front. Clearly your rim has the WRONG offset for your car which is why you don't have the correct clearance for a properly sized tire. And the rim sizing aside, it is MORE than evident that the tire you've fitted is COMPLETELY wrong for the rim. And so now you're going to ad front rims with the same mistakes, and then compound this all the way around with an overly negative camber assignment to knock-kneed the rims into the car. What do you think is going to happen with the outside wheel the first time you go on an off-camber turn? You will SPIN out.

You should learn what how alignment and tire sizing works before you get busy with creative ideas on either.

How about some pneumatics to get the car to hop around? Maybe some flames and swirls pained on the front wheel wells... and I know! clip the front seat backs o they're only about 2 feet tall... and then re-engineer the seat rails so they turn and pivot in position! :-)

And... instead of putting a fake M badge on... you can really reach high and put on a Buick label... or better yet... El Camino!
