I fixed my squeaky seat is 3 minutes. Here’s how

Someone else posted they were hitting everything under the seat with WD40 and got the squeak to go away. I did a systematic approach to see if I could find the location that was the problem. I oiled 7 spots and the 7th spot cured it. I first oiled the 4 hinges that lift the seat up, 2 front 2 rear. I oiled the top and the bottom joint. No difference in the squeak. I next oiled both side of the bar that runs across between the hinges that lift (left to right in the front). No Difference in squeak. I next oiled the spring located on the console side of the seat in the front, it clips on a tab that is very easy to see. Squeak gone.

I obviously cant ensure it will cure your seat but a can of 3 in 1 oil or WD40 and a few strategic shots and you could save a trip to the dealer

Raise the seat all the way and move it back or forward to get easy access to these locations.

Good job and thanks for the tips!

I'll give it a try, but start from you 7th spot.

I recall reading that someone had a spring replaced to resolve the problem. That may be the one.

God, I hate my stupid squeaky seat. I feel like I'm gonna turn into the Hulk and smash the car into pieces every time I get in. Thanks for the tips. What kind of "oil" was used?

I used a Permatex oil that is like WD40. WD40 is actually not really oil but it's easy to apply and it will do the trick.

Do NOT use WD40. Your car will stink for a couple of weeks.

Ask me how I know

Once that didn't work, I got a spray can of lithium grease - the kind with the little straw. That worked, and didn't stink.

Did you have to remove the seat/take it apart to diagnose the squeak? I don't want to get grease on my carpet..

Use a dry spray lubricant- no smell or oily film to pickup dust. The Dupont teflon spray from Lowes works well or the 3m dry lube that is wax based.
