What shall I do?
Just about to replace my company car but can not make my mind up? I've got it down to: New shape 2008 Saab 9-3 Convertible 1.9 - 150bhp diesel,6 speed auto with paddles, two tone leather, metalic paint,PDC,comfort pack (auto dim mirror-powerfold mirrors etc). OR E92 320i Coupe. Metalic paint,Auto lights+wiper,Isofix,19inch wheel upgrade, power fold mirrors, high beam assist. What would you get?

Tough call that one.
Depends on your age or whether your a hairdresser I guess. I'd be tempted by the Saab, but at my age I'd just look like a sad old git. |

I would rather pull my teeth out with a pair of pliers (without an anaesthetic) rather than ever own or drive a SAAB. Isn't it basically a glorified Vauxhall?
Seriously - the coupe would be my choice - especially with the spec you list... but add on leather

Have you driven the Saab? They don't handle as well as the BM and this would be an important factor if it was my choice.
Try before you buy and once you have decide what's important to you. Good luck Miopyk |

Really tempted by the BM but miss the soft top so so much.
Had a "55" plate fully loaded E46 Convertible but had to sell it for the current E90 as we couldn't get the baby seat in it. Found out my partner was expectng two weeks after I picked her up. Always had soft tops since I couldn't ride a motorbike anymore due to a serious RTA that left me disabled. Thanks for the advice as I really am unsure what to do

Personally I'd go for the E92, especially as convertibles are just not my thing.
Plus it's a BMW, SAAB just doesn't do it for me. Get out there and drive them both before you decide.

Soft tops are addictive; I do miss my E46 'vert sometimes but feel the E92 is a more rewarding drive - and that is why I changed from 'vert to coupe; the driving/handling experience. The coupe is magnificent and that is what I went for.
When I can get a two-seater again I'll go back to a convertible but so long as 4 seats are required, the coupe is my preference.

Driven the SAAB but not the coupe.Trying to get hold of one for the day just to make sure.
Must admit the 2008 SAAB drives a lot better than the 2007 one but know what you mean about it being a Vauxhall and not a BMW.

> Convertible
> diesel You're trolling, right? Given a choice, *nobody* would pick a rattling diesel convertible over a smooth purring petrol coupe. > Isn't it basically a glorified Vauxhall? Glorified? Saab was still selling the 9-3 based on the Calibra platform long after the Opel/Vauxhall discontinued it. A car that uses someone else's hand-me-down platform is hardly glorified. It's pitiful. |

I just checked. The current 9-3 is based on the Cadillac BLS platform and they're coming off the same assembly line.
So is the vectra, but Opel/Vauxhall made so much changes to it that it's not possible to produce the 9-3 or the BLS on the same line. |

I think you can actually get SAABs services at Vauxhall dealers now... can you not?
