I can understand the 6 weeks delay for transport, but 6 months or more... If you order F15 in Belgium today you need to wait one year for delivery. I wonder how quotas are being calculated for each country.

I know, it seems a bit bonkers to me. Demand is high in Europe generally and prices are much higher than in the US so why does BMW insist on such low production volumes for Europe and such quick delivery times in the US. If they shipped more to Europe they'd make much more per vehicle but maybe they aren't bothered about the money, I really don't know.

M50d MY2015 is quoted as 0-100km in 5.3s, economy of 42.8 MPG and 173 g/km of CO2 emissions. Not sure this is different than MY2014 - it is said that the small improvement in acceleration and economy are more noticable for the 30d and 50i models.

No change in the basic price for the MY2015 X5 xDrive30d M Sport compared to MY2014 (ordered from a UK dealer). Not sure about the other engine variants....

I had a tchat with BMW today and apparently the automatic gear optimization scheduled for MY2015 seems to be only a software upgrade.
I hope it will be possible to retrofit MY2014

If I recall correctly I recently read that 70% of production from SC is exported. I cannot seem to find where I read it but was surpassed that it was so high. Maybe someone can confirm the numbers that go to Europe (I would think it is the majority of that 70%).

This means that 30% of all X built are sold in the USA. Seems high that one country sells almost 1 out if every 3 cars built worldwide.

The statistic is that 70% of the plants production is exported to 140 countries around the world. That said, the expansion at the plant is to increase export so the 70% is probably increasing. Either way, that's a lot of X's in the US if the other 70% are being shared by 140 countries.

True but I would assume most of those that are exported go to Europe (just my WAG).

Doesn't seem high to me. The US is the single largest consumer of new cars, and is also the land of SUV's. The whole concept of an SUV is basically the result of American consumers. SUV's just aren't as popular in most of the rest of the world (yet), but are gaining in popularity, obviously. We're so used to them here, they have become almost the standard, default vehicle in many people's eyes, depending on where in NA you live. It's just not that way yet elsewhere. So 30% actually seems a little low. I have no figures or sources, just guessing, but I would have guessed at least 50% of South Carolina's output was sold in America. As long as there's one left for me, they can sell as many as they want to whoever they want.

No it's only due to the optimized automatic gearbox

Correct - BMW say the following "Revisions to the automatic transmission for xDrive30d, xDrive40d, xDrive50i and M50d models improve CO2 emissions and fuel economy as well as improving 0-62mph acceleration figures for 30d and 50i models. New automatic transmission 8HP75 (formerly 8HP70), resulting in improvements to CO2 emissions and fuel economy."
