I have a race chip ultimate and would highly recommend it. Nice smooth additional power and very noticeable

Most tuners selling piggy backs are using the same piggy and rebranding. Save your money and get the racechip. Worth the money

As for downpipes, my experience on my previous and past turbo cars is there is big gains to had. The m5 seems to achieve big gains and not sure why different for our car. The cats bolt fidelity next to the turbos. Any restriction removed should greatly improve turbo lag and power.

I am ordering my catted downpipes later this week. They are high flow 200 cell. Can't deal with the smell. I had run cattless and then high cats on my e63 with very little difference in power. These new high flow cats perform very close to cattless

I tried running without cats and then high flow cats on my Jeep SRT and the smell was horrendous, my clothes smelled every time I drove. My E92 with test pipes is tolerable, but I think my days of removing cats are over, regardless of power gains.

With my catless X5m, I really have not had a problem with smell. The only time I noticed it was when I had it in M2 and I was standing behind the vehicle.
Otherwise the X5 is a lot more fun!!

Do you notice it when you roll the windows down? My Jeep was horrible even with all the windows up and the recirc on. Forget about going through drive-throughs. Definitely not the ideal setup with kids in the car.

My E92 has a faint smell inside sometimes, but I definitely notice it with the windows open. The secondary cats seem to do a decent job on their own.

Honestly I haven't smelt it in the vehicle. However, I don't drive with my window all the way down. I usually drive with passenger and driver window (or rear window) down a couple inches and sunroof open. Haven't smelt it yet. Perhaps I will try a full driver window down and see if I get your results.
