I ordered an InvisiCord: http://www.invisicord.com/index.html. Plug and play, very easy... I'm sure very similar to the MirrorTap.
As for getting the plastic piece off around the mirror... I popped it apart with just a credit card. Really simple. There is a great DIY writeup somewhere on the F15 forum. |

I just installed the Thinkware F770 along with a external battery pack (cellink battery B) and it works flawlessly in my X5M. DIY install myself took 2-3 hours but thats mostly because i wanted it 100% hidden and oem clean. Highly recommend this setup if you don't want to worry about low battery warnings.

I just have a portable Escort Passport 9500iX which keeps me ticketless as my +700 ponies are always wanting to run....

Just installed the new Uniden R7... HOLY CRAP is this thing ever nice!
Probably the best windshield mounted detector on the market right now. https://uniden.com/products/r7-extre...reat-detection |

Supposedly, "auto-gps lockout" is supposed to be coming as the patent (or whatever) has expired from the company that originally started that (escort perhaps?), anyway, that will be a nice addition.

Yes, Escort owned the patent rights to auto-gps lockout. The patent rights ended in June of this year, but Escort is still fighting for ownership. I believe they have already slapped lawsuits on Uniden and K40 for adding this technology to their newer units. The R7 already has the hardware built-in for this, and the software is ready to go... but the whole thing is tied up in court. Sounds like it'll be 2020 before it gets settled. Once that's done (assuming it gets settled), then Uniden will release a firmware update, which will include the software to activate the gps-lockout.

Alright guys, Santa delivered the new R7!! I’ve used it for a couple days and man, this thing has so many options. Any tips or advice? I turned off the K Band completely, no-one uses K Band around here, I’ve only seen Ka being used in 2 years. One of the main reasons I wanted this was for that option, my Passport would always alert to every K Band signal, so annoying. Cheers!

https://www.vortexradar.com/2019/04/...adar-detector/ My V1 I think is almost as good as the R7, still has excellent range with the custom filters he has setup. Still pretty quiet especially when K band is turned off. Good luck and enjoy! I have both and you can't go wrong with the R7! |

using V1 and waze
I find waze most helpful on the highway, as long as other users are around. Be wary late at night or early in the morning. My V1 is most useful in my town and surrounding areas. I get the impression that most drivers have moved on from detectors, and therefore the police have become less likely to use instant on radar. It's too crowded to use laser in town. The range on the V1 allows me to pick up in plenty of time either way. |
