ACS spring vs H&R spring for adaptive suspension

First of all I have to thanks Ben for the great shopping experience he had provided. Great service fast shipping! I got my ACS spring within 5 days after ordering from his web site. The reason I changed the H&R to ACS ones is because i have some weird noises from my front suspension. After taking my car to my local shop, they take a careful inspection on my front chassis. Everything were fine except they see an abnormal wears on my H&R spring, seems like the spring rate is not hard enough and some of the spring coils are rubbing each others. So i decided to get a set of ACS spring. After a few days drive, my advice to all fellow members if wanna lower your X5, go with ACS spring! They are way better spring than the H&R ones.

We can see the drop, but how is the ride better? Handling? Ride quality? Etc?

Keen to hear more on the ACS spring.

Are you saying we should not be fitting the H&R? From what I can tell, it's pretty popular on here.

it seems the ACS springs are not progressive? i do believe the H&R springs are in fact meant to stack up, but im hoping i dont have any type of noise once i install... maybe a quick lather with grease will help.

do the ACS ride stiffer then the HandR

The ACS have a slight progressive turn to them - certainly not as much as the H&R. Progressive springs, without the proper shock, are a waste of money. In principle, the idea is good, but you need a properly valved shock for rebound and dampening to offset the energy these things build up under use. Otherwise, you will bounce right down the street and wear out your stock shocks to boot.

With proper installation, H&Rs should not have any noise to them. And no amount of grease will stop noise because they are mounted metal-on-metal. If you have noise, take it back and tell them to re-index or twist the shock to seat it better.

sounds about right...

wouldnt the dynamic dampers of the X5 with the msport/adaptive/DHP suspension be a benefit to the H and R springs progressive nature? im hoping the rebound/damper characteristics of the shocks/airbags, would not allow the bounce i have heard about

I've been very happy with my ACS setup, especially now that they've 'settled in'. Drop is sublte, more like an M stance should be, especially with the spacers (15/20). The ride is good, slightly stiffer than OE.

Do you have a picture with HR springs to compare the drop?

Recently i noticed also this kind of noise in the front.

How about the riding? how about the stiffness?

Im waiting for your feedback. because im considering to change also to this ACS Springs

I will try to find some better photos of H&R set up and take some pics of my current ACS setting... for ride comfort, ACS one are alot better than the H&R ones... H&R ones are alot stiffer than the ACS ones... thats also mean H&R ones giving you a more stable and responsive steering feels on highway speed. Personally overall the ACS setting performance and ride comfort seems to be a better balance for F15 X5 than the H&R ones. Also as i mentioned before the H&R ones caused some noises after i have them on for 15,000km. And it seems i am not the only one having this problem with H&R spring.

I have had my H&R for over a year, and I don't have any noise issue that I've been hearing.
And all the X5's that I have installed, doesn't have noise issue also.
I would say there is a problem on the installation.
Ride wise, the ACS would be better and controllable due to its design. While the H&R would be firmer since the design of the top part of the spring is to get the most drop, the bottom part of the spring have to be stiffer to accommodate the car's weight.
Also, the lower the car, you will lose more of the compression travel and gain more of the rebound travel. Which will give you a little out of control rebound due to stock shock valving. But, for you who has Adaptive Suspension or M Suspension, no worry, since you can change the valving with a press of a button (I believe it also auto adjust on comfort mode).

You can't really go wrong with any of those three. Not sure what the drop is on the Eibach, I just wanted a more conservative drop so I opted for the ACS springs/links.

ACS and Eibach is supposedly the same spring.
But Eibach is not available in the US.
Based on the design, I would say the ride quality is about the same between the 2.

Do you have rear air bags, or coil springs?
