Another Drive Train malfunction thread. Fuel injectors?

Well here's another DTM thread. I retrieved the CEL code via Bimmerlik.

I've just replaced plugs and coils 3,000 mi prior. I'm at 58,600 mi. No blue smoke.

Car went into limp mode at 80 mph in freeway. Stutterring when stepping on gas. Definitely struggling uphill. I was only 10 mi away from home and ended up driving 30 mph the rest of the way.

After letting the car sit over night, I retrieved the following codes. Interestingly enough, the CEL and DTM went away without clearing the codes. Car seems to run fine city driving at 30-40 mph. Haven't driven in the freeway.

I'm questioning if this could be fuel injector. What do you guys think?

So I ended up going to a local indy shop. They ran diagnostics and noted my battery is not charging past 60% - recommended replacement. Also recommended replacing coils.
Fuel pressure seems ok. They did not think this is a HPFP issue or fuel injectors.

I've replaced the battery and coils 5-8. Will update the thread. Hopefully this solves my DTM.

There's also another thread about replacing vacuum pump valve. Mine is actually fine but nonetheless, since it's known to fail, I've ordered the replacement as well.

Hopefully it’s as simple as a battery replacement. Crazy what a battery going bad can do to cars nowadays.

so they think your cylinder 8 coil went back after 3k miles? seems unlikely. Keep us posted. Also seems an odd code/behavior relative to a battery.

Not sure how a battery contributes to that, but definitely not good it wasn't charging past 60%

I agree it’s unlikely it’s the battery, but have seen people with some weird codes that replacing the battery ended up fixing somehow.

They think it's more so the coils maybe a defective one. But since battery is on it's way out, they also recommended replacing it. I questioned the battery and connection to misfires but there have been some threads on bad battery and misfires. BTW, my coils are duralast from Autozone. I probably should have gotten OEM coils but whatever. Good thing is duralast coils have lifetime warranty. Since I bought two sets of 4, Autozone had me buy another set of 4 vs individual coils to make the warranty claim easier. So quick swap of coils and returned the "defective" ones. Refunded my $$$ no questions asked.

I'll keep this thread posted...

Regarding the coil pack, it’s been noted and tested over time that the OEM Eldor brand ones are the safest bet and most reliable.

Autozones Store brand "duralast" is the most unreliable brand there is.
