^^Shimmy's F15 Journal^^

Happy New Year everyone! New to the F15 chassis but familiar with BMWs. As the family grows and we venture into more sports/activities, i found myself wanting more space than my e90 M3 could accommodate. I never thought we'd be a two SUV family but here we are!

Big thanks to my cousin Jiggz for educating me on all the options, decoding cars as we found them, and ultimately finding this gem for me!!

Introducing my new to me 2016 F15 50i, glacier silver on black dakota. I Bought her on the opposite coast and took delivery a couple weeks back. Here she is at 32,512 miles. My plans are to keep this an OEM+ build.

First things first! We're a snowboarding family so proper winter tires were in order. Jiggz had the Michelin Alpins and i was impressed with how they rode and handled. On they went! Might as well fix that curb rash too!! If you're in WA and you need wheels repaired or refinished, go see Corey at Sound Wheel Works!

Welcome Shimmy. As an FYI, one of our fellow forum members classic_erik is selling both the MPBK and Supersprint. May want to take a look as you can get yourself a deal on those immediately.

Leather dashboard ftw! Congrats on the new car, looks great. Even a stock 50i is pretty peppy for such a big car huh? I've only had mine for a few months now and it still surprises me sometimes

How did you run the wiring? I need to hardwire my detector.

Also--did you swap the dashboard? Your car has what looks like nappa leather on the dash and upper part of the door cards

my x5 came with S4M5 individual leather covered dashboard.

i ran the wire up to the mirror, across the passenger windshield and down the a pillar to the fuse panel. the fuse panel is located just under the glovebox.

hell yes to carbon dash and Blendmount hardwire. mirror tap could’ve saved you some wiring but nicely done nonetheless!

Awesome! I was looking to find some for my Mocha Dakota but I can never find any in that color, not to mention any I found were almost $1k. I think that’s a bit much for knee pads but they certainly add a nice touch!!

They're not available in Mocha.

They are expensive, but it's a huge improvement, especially for X5's equipped with the ridiculous fake wood trim.
