I would check many different BMW dealers for the best price. Then get a quote at your nearest dealer for the install which should be about $150 - $200.
getbmwparts.com sells the MPPK tune for $950 no tax

Contact ShawnSheridan. He has a buddy that could remote in to do the install. I'm sure it'll be cheaper than any dealership plus you will not loose all your coding work. You just need to shop around for the best pricing for the MPPK programming. Good luck

Kzang, Love your rig and decided to replicate it as my 550ix lease is expiring. The question I have is about power. I have always had V8's with my last several BMW's and didn't want to fork out the money for the 5.0.
If you could only purchase one, would you add the Dinan Stage 1 or the MPPK to increase the torque and exhaust sound as you noted in other threads. How noticeable is stacking them like you did? need to clear my head on this so that one it comes in I know my moves. Thanks |

I bought MPPK from GetBMWParts for $972 out the door, and saved a couple hundred on the install by having WarpedDrive install it remotely for $150, so $1,122 total. My local BMW dealership quoted me $1365 for parts and labor to install.

I would do what Kzang did and add MPPK first, then stack it with the Racechip. No need for Dinan my opinion. All piggybacks will yield similar gains as they are all tricking the same sensors around the engine. One advice though is go test drive a 35i first before you write off the 50i. I too came from a F10 550i to a 35i X5 and the one area where i felt my 35i X5 was lacking was highway acceleration even with MPPK. Local driving the 35i MPPK stacked setup is pretty quick. Doesn't feel underpowered at all and quite sporty but once you are on the highway and need to mash the pedal to pass its no where near 550 acceleration. Not even close. Just something to keep in mind. Alan

So my dealership is charging $1250 plus$96 in sales taxes. Does Dealership honor warranty if WarpedDrive creates a problem?

Nubs61 Thanks for your comment on my X5 and I would echo Alan's comment above.
I wouldn't take a chance in case something does go wrong with the install. I had an issue with my software upgrade with the MPPK and the dealer kept my X5 for several days to figure out the issue with BMWNA engineers. I was confident though since an authorized BMW dealer was doing the installation. Spend the extra $200 to have it done right and to have that peace of mind.

+1. Cheapest I've seen by far. I paid $899 for mine. Call around for the install quote. It shouldn't be more than $200. If they start telling you they need to disassemble "this and that" so then could add "this and that," hang up and call another dealer. It's only software coding.

In my opinion, there is nothing to be concerned about. BMW cannot have a problem with any independent workshop that performs work on BMW cars. They can't tell an owner where to have their car serviced.
You are buying the MPPK FSC code from BMW, which identifies your VIN with the MPPK, and simply having an independent shop download and install it--in the comfort of your garage. The process worked great for me. |

Thanks Alan and Kzang. Very helpful! Alan your car is awesome too. Love what you guys both did.
Kzang, love how the carbon fiber front splitter and rear diffuser blend with the space gray. Im a color keyed guy and probably would not put them on if they didn't blend. Just MO. The front looks bad ass. Where's the least expensive place to purchase the front and back? BMWPartPros? |

Just for reference purposes...I just paid $940. including sales tax for the MPPK from my BMW dealer (Bob Smith, Calabasas, CA) and they charged $40. for the install. The BMW product info sheet says the install should only take .25 hr. For the MPPK purchase, I used a 20% off 'All Accessories' coupon I received in the mail from the dealer.

I purchased my M performance parts from various places. I picked up the MPPK and front splitter from getbmwparts.com because at the time they were having a summer promotion and since they have no sales tax it was the lowest cost. I picked up the rear diffuser and M performance exhaust system from my local dealer since they offered to install the exhaust at a reasonable price and also install the rear diffuser for free. Here is my thread on my build process if you are interested http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1094893 http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1145464 And here is Alan's F15... ( He has since upgraded to F85 though ) http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1117489

Kzang-
I cant stop staring at your rig with the perfect photography and backdrop. Cant wait to get mine after gaping at yours daily. Since I like your style, what do you think of the gloss black double slat front grills? Did you consider? |

One of my buddy aw305 has the double slat kidney grills on his space grey and I have a side by side photo You can view more here http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1264985 I prefer the OEM design, but the double slats do look good! Sort of gives it the X5M look.
