Sagging Right Rear Suspension

Hello everyone. I have a 2017 two row with DHP.
Right rear deflates after engine off
Can hear compressor when car awakens but does not raise right rear
Upon starting car right rear raises to normal and stays there while driving.
36K miles
No codes.
Checked other threads but nothing with my exact problem.
Your thoughts and recommendations are appreciated.

Airbag problem dude. Simple fix… search the forums. Plenty of topics on this.

Also, get under and check that your compressor is not cracked where it connects to the lines. It is plastic, and can break. I’d check this before you order new air springs though.

If you get new ones, get the Arnott’s!

Any one else? Can I drive it this way? Cannot get into the dealer until end of November.
Seems like air bag right side. Any other ideas other than compressor connections? Thanks.

I mean, you can but if it says it’ll give you a warning and tell you not to drive over 15-25 miles speeds I believe.

It happened to me crossing a bridge… both went out… needless to say I was pissed and so were the people behind me 🤷🏽‍♂️

Just look at the curvature of the bags, where it folds back in… if it has that “dry rotted look” (like it can be a cheese grader) then your bags are bad. They should look smooth, with no rough surface if you understand what saying….

And if you post a picture of them, people here will be way more helpful too…

If the dealer performs the repair. OEM BMW air springs (official name) will be used at a much higher price.

Suggest to buy Arnott's aftermarket air springs and find an indy shop willing to install them.

This. Order the airbags and find a local mechanic. Even one who doesn't know bmws should be able to swap them out. And for a lot less money than dealer.

Thanks everyone on the Arnots. Worried that it may be something else other than the bag. Dealer cannot diagnose till end of Nov. Backed up.
Is the bag a high probability???
I have a indy 1.5 hours away. I could have the bag drop shipped there for him to install but he's not that great at diagnosing problems. If it's not the bag, then I'm kinda stuck.
If the bag is high probability then I am tempted to roll the dice.

Roll the dice??????

Roll it! Bags leaking is very common.

I used to wrench. Now too old without proper equipment. No lift or floor jack!

Well guess what. It was not the air bag! Some mice built a nest and chewed the airline on the right side enough to create a leak. Of course the airline was not available locally but had one overnighted to the indy. Labor was more than for just replacing the air bag as the bag had to be removed and reinstalled with the air line routed. Suspension was recalibrated and seems better than before it broke. Set mouse traps and 3 dead mice so far.
Returning the Arnott but will loose money on the return.

Honestly, if you aren't overly concerned about recouping the cost of the bags I'd just hold onto them. You'll likely need to replace the bags down the road anyways. It's a rather common maintenance item with rear air.

Yup. Almost guaranteed to leak at some point. Personally I would have just replaced them regardless.

Yep. I have two on hand at home. I bring one with me when we go on our overland trips. They are easy to replace, even when out in the sticks.

Great decision. Air springs failed on my 2015 X5 after approximately 36K miles. Having a set on hand will save a lot of time later.
