No flaws. Made in USA, SolarTint, aftermarket glass.
Do you have the HUD? If so, any image degradation?

I have HUD on my X5 and was curious to see how much it would be to replace my windshield and per their website it is $990.00. And I immediately got a discount code for $150 off. So less than $1k for a new windshield with HUD is pretty cheap.

My price would be 450 on that glass, and id be making 200$, the job would take less than an hour.

I used Safelite, they came to me and got my OEM windshield. Insurance asked me if I had HUD (which I do) and didn’t question me asking for an OEM one. 🤙🏽

How far upstate are you? I actually have a 2020 Subaru Forester that has some slight scratches all over the surface and wondering if I can polish it or just replace it. Do you only work on BMW's?

Nope, I work on anything, Im in Utica, it's about 80 minutes past Albany if you're headed west on I-90. I've not had much luck polishing scratches, They have much better kits than the one I used to have but they're pricey and there isn't m much of a demand so I never bothered.

No issues but they put in oem as I requested. Only issue was with some adhesive they put that goes between the glass and cameras had some air bubbles. They eventually went away but didn’t cause any issue with the safety systems.

I have a 2024 G26 and just caught a rock. It was repairable in size but went through both layers so Safelite could not repair it. They did, free of charge, perform the repair as a temporary fix so it would not get bigger or leak so I had time to get a new windshield.

I filed a claim with my Insurance, Hanover, and they authorized OEM and scheduled it with Safelite. Zero cost to me and $794 to Hanover.

I have used Safelite on a 2018 Jeep, 2014 STi, and a 2011 Honda Pilot. I went aftermarket on the Jeep and OEM on the STi and Honda. all of them were perfect when done.

The only issue I had was for the Jeep the aftermarket arrived with a small scratch. The tech caught it when inspecting it before starting the work and had a new windshield brought out to him.

curious as to why you would file a claim for $800? Would it be cheaper to pay out of pocket rather than increase your premium later?

Very good question. I have home, cars, and a umbrella with them so I am on their "Platinum" plan. Windshield are zero deductible and no hit on premiums.

Long one here, but I wanted to update the thread as I FINALLY got my windshield replaced last Thursday (10/26), which was over a month since the "loss" was initially reported to my INS Co (USAA).

When I originally reported the event to USAA, I was forwarded to "Safelite Auto Solutions" and told that USAA outsources all glass coverage to them. USAA has been nothing short of amazing since I became a member years ago and this whole nightmare was not in line with the high-level of service that I came to enjoy as a USAA member.

For almost a month I was jerked around by Safelite Auto Solutions. First, they sent a rep out to attempt to fix the glass instead of replacing. The rep came to my house and refused to even attempt a repair as the break had penetrated too deep. From there, I got back on the phone with Safelite Auto Solutions and was informed that they would not work directly with my local BMW dealership, but also disagreed with the quote provided to me by said dealership. After getting some advice here on the forum, I decided to schedule with Safelite for the repair.

~ 3 weeks before my scheduled appointment I confirmed that an OEM windshield and all necessary parts/accessories had been ordered by the local Safelite shop (West Chester, PA) that was to perform the replacement.

~ 2 weeks before the appointment I received a follow-up call that confirmed this, again, as a courtesy.

~ 1 week before the replacement I received another call from Safelite, informing me that the windshield and parts were never ordered, and that they had no timetable to provide. On this call, I expressed how dissatisfied I was with Safelite given the fact that almost 1-month had passed since the event was reported to my INS Co. The Safelite rep on the phone said that they would make a few calls and let me know what they could do.

On the same day, I received a call back from Safelite letting me know that they "found" all of the parts, and that we were still on for my replacement, scheduled for last Monday, 10/23.

On the day of the scheduled replacement (10/23) I received a phone call from my local Safelite location (West Chester, PA), during which the customer service rep called to "Give me the bad news" that the windshield and parts/accessories were no where to be found. She almost seemed to enjoy delivering that news and seemed to enjoy how annoyed I was.

At this point, I called my INS Co (USAA) and, after threatening to cancel my policies with them, was informed that they also handle glass coverage internally, and that it was fully within my rights to work with them, directly, instead of Safelite. <48 hours later I had the money for the replacement wired to my account, and my local BMW Dealership completed the replacement in 2 days.

This entire process was a shit show, largely due to how inefficient and poorly run Safelite is as a company. As a result, I would not recommend Safelite to anyone that needs anything more than a simple windshield ding/crack repaired.

how unfortunate. my dealings with satellite have been positive with their techs always being very polite and accommodating. their customer service reps are on par with others these days. mediocre

in the end, glad to see this was resolved and you're happy with the oem glass.

So after getting the work order Safelite cannot recalibrate the sensors so I have to take it to the dealer and submit the bill for reimbursement. That will be $900.

So now I am asking my insurance company if I can go right to the dealer. That quote is $1700.

Frustrating.

I'd be interested in seeing these pics. Very happy with the work that BMW of West Chester did on my X5.

Did BMW actually do the work? Id be surprised if so, usually they use a sub for glass.

Honestly not sure. I was so fed up with the process that I didn't ask.

To be honest, it didn't really matter to me at this point. If there were any issue with the replacement, I'd much rather work with BMW than Safelite to troubleshoot.

Agree, don't care if the shop dog did the work, it's on BMW to get the final result right.
