Dinantronics X
How many people are running this? Any thoughts as to whether it will damage the car over time?

I personally don't think it's worth the money for something that's tricking the ECU into making more power. I'd much rather get MHD or bootmod3 as they are proven alternatives. Dinan was a different company back in the day. They sold out years ago and now they don't make as stout products and also don't have the BMW US backing anymore.

Thanks that makes sense. BM3 and MHD seem like the obvious choices when considering performance. I am really worried about reliability so I may just go mppk since it should be the least harsh on the car given that it only adds 30 hp and is made by BMW.

Just get BM3. It is half the price and it comes with the MPPK tune as one of the options. You can switch between that and BM3 stage one for free. You’ll probably find you prefer the stage one.

any tune will run the risk of failure or increased wear and tear over time. i read that the dinan is a rebranded racechip built to dinan spec. i've also read of issues with bootmod. i've decided to keep my 50i stock for now but if i had a 35i id probably be considering the bootmod.

Thanks, I am now thinking just to stay stock. This is my daily driver that I also use for a 2 hour trip to a vacation house on the weekend and I think anything that risks damaging the car is just not worth it. I am off warranty and want to keep the car as long as possible (currently 62k miles). I also have an F83 comp which satisfies the need for speed.
