Pre-Purchase Question on 2017 with 200k

Looking at a 2017 X5 with msport package. Nice truck. Carbon Black on Cognac. Car has 200k on it. 1 owner. Lots of BMW service history on the car fax. At a non BMW dealer for sale. I had a 2011 x5 years back and at 100k all hell broke loose with Valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, coolant leaks in hoses and tanks etc.. Dumped the truck did not have the patience. At 200k I assume most of this has been completed however.. at 200k could these things need replacement again?

Any advice is appreciated. Dealer asking about 11k for the truck. Before wasting my time negotiating I would like to know if this is even worth seeing. I am not looking to get another 100k miles out of the truck. Thanks!

Lot of miles. For a few thousand more, you can buy something with half as many miles

Hmmm… assuming they weren’t all replaced at 199k miles, pretty sure those some items will need to be replaced within the next 50-100k. The thought of any BMW being less maintenance at 200k is not realistic.

Just wondering about the catastrophic things that could or will go wrong. I am not afraid or normal maintenance. Anyone here have one with 190k plus?

Dude, you said you dumped your previous x5 for simple repairs, such as valve cover and oil filter housing gaskets. How do you think a x5 with 200k miles, will fair any better? Lol

this! OP you lost me when said 200k after complaining about maintenance items at 100k.
i personally wouldn't consider purschasing any car over 100k miles.

If standard maintenance items are what made you get rid of your e70, do not get an f15 with double the mileage. Those are maintenance items , not failure items.

Yeah, tough buy as others have mentioned. Without the maintenance records it’s Russian roulette. Also, without knowing of the trans fluid has been changed you’re pretty in the dark with that potential $10k issue.

pulled the trigger. Was able to get last 2 records within the last 6 months. Both ran previous owner somewhere like $7k total. They had an extended warranty- recently the alternator was changed, water pump too, struts, some arms.

It’s an MSport with 198k on the clock. Runs great. Happy with the buy.
