Xenon Headlight Bulbs replaced with LED
I have a 2018 F15 X5 Diesel that has the Adaptive Xenon headlights. The fog lights are OE optional LED. With recent advances in the technology behind OEM LED Headlight bulbs it's now easier than ever to replace your standard xenon bulbs with led bulbs. I am seeing a lot of direct LED replacement options for the D1S bulbs but I am looking for feedback from anyone who has successfully made the swap to LED. By "successful", I mean replacement LED bulbs that accurately reproduce an OE light pattern, don't blind oncoming traffic and produce at least the same amount of light, or slightly more, than the OE Xenons. I know I will probably need a pair of filters to cancel the Canbus bulb warning and any flicker.
I am familiar with all the stories of LEDs installed in the projector headlights not working. That is very true with the older bulbs, and maybe some of the current options, but I know there are some that have managed to put the light source in the correct "sweet spot" and function very well. This is what I am looking for and hope someone here has found such a solution and can share what they found and where. I have become very spoiled with the OE LED headlights on my 2021 M2 Competition, and that is the reason for my search. Pic of the X5d and M2C for attention only. Thanks in advance. I know this is not exactly what you asked for but did you consider getting high performance D1S bulbs, these are much brighter than OEM bulbs and doesn't change geometry of the headlight so you stay to OEM as close as possible.

I put OSRAM CBI bulbs in mine not too long ago. probably the best option out there imo.

My Infiniti bulb went out and I decided to get an upgrade, I was shocked how good my headlights are with CBI, felt like completely different car. Bright, perfect white color with crisp cut off. I doubt LED lights will be able to provide same quality.

I gave these a try. They’re pricey, but work nicely.

The garage door pic is deceiving because my driveway is on an incline. The entire time I’ve been running these I have yet to have someone flash their lights at me, so either they don’t blind oncoming traffic or the people around me don’t care. The pattern is surprisingly flat for aftermarket LEDs.

^ not bad! Goes to show how LED tech keeps improving!
that being said, based on the pics, i still think a HID bulb produces a better, more even output. I think i'd still opt to replace with a good quality HID bulb since the vehicle is equipped for one.
