First F16 X6 Rolls Off Line in Spartanburg
BIMMERPOST NEWS First F16 X6 Rolls Off Line in Spartanburg Production of the second generation BMW X6 (F16) has begun! Manufacturing for the all new X6 began yesterday (Friday) at the BMW plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The first new BMW X6 off the line was a Sophisto Gray xDrive35i with a Cognac Black leather interior. This one isn't for the home market though, as it is destined for a BMW dealership in China. Production of the first-generation X6 started in early 2008 at the plant. U.S. sales of the X6, between 2008 and 2014 (July), totaled more than 37,000 units. Since 2008, about 265,000 X6s have been produced for global customers. The X6 joins the X3, X4 and X5 as the current models produced in the Spartanburg plant. The upcoming BMW X7 has also been announced to be joining the lineup at Spartanburg. In March, BMW announced an additional $1 billion investment for this plant. That will increase annual production capacity to 450,000 vehicles by the end of 2016. Source: Islandpacket Also see: 2015 BMW X6 Official Info Thread. |

The July sales report shows a jump in the sales for the x6. The new shape looks really good. I'm sure it's gonna look sick when the M model comes out.

That lady in front of the X6 is thinking... "I hope i built it right....oh wells..."
People use to buy the X6 because it looked sleeker than the X5. Now they look the same except without any usable trunk space. Alan |

I have the E71 and I think the same reason is there to buy the F16 vs the F15 as it was before. It's still sleeker; the main difference is this generation has the same face as the X5.
The rest of the body including rear is completely different from the X5 in terms of looks. They both look great. The X5 has grown on me even the rear, which I didn't like very much at first. Can't wait to see the ///Ms! Awesome to see Spartanburg expanding and building 4 and soon to be 5 models of X series BMWs! |

It's possible that its an X4. They run an equal opportunity assembly line. You'll see all the Xs mixed up on the line (should I have said online? ). I don't know if an X4s rear is that high though.

The M3/M4 is available for those who want it (by the way, very consumer grade). As a shareholder, and someone who has owned and driven a wide range of their cars, I am glad BMW understands it's business and potential far too well to pander to purists. Enough said.

Hahaha, that made me laugh.
Consumer grade rep-mobile if there was ever one. In solid Jet Black too. (of course his other car is a Bentley) On an unrelated note, I have a lot of respect for the young, aspirational purist who buys a 10 year old M3 than one who settles for a 1-Series with a boot. How that's for segmentation.

2008-2010 (perhaps 2009) included both dynamic performance control and adaptive drive. For the 20011MY, they decoupled adaptive drive, but it still included DPC by default through 2014. So now for the 2015MY, they've decoupled DPC. So right off the bat you'll have to add a $4500 option to get it to drive the same as a 2011-2014. $7900 (DPC+MSport+M Adaptive suspension) to get to drive the same as a 2008-2010. That certainly turns their 'slight' increase into a mighty hefty one. For my 2012, I paid $3500 to add AD. Now I'm in the $7900 boat ($4400 increase for me) to get the same car. Since I've driven X6s w/o AD and X5s w/o DPC, there's no way that I'd order an X6 without both of those options. Although I liked how the X6 looked, I moved from my '11 E70 to a '12 E71 most definitely for its awesome drive. |
