Yes, I have no need for the functionality of the roof rack. I have a luxury line with chrome window trim and satin roof rack. Bringing my car to get the window trim deleted by way of a wrap this week but they wanted another $800 to paint the roof rack so trying to find a cheaper way. Not sure why they don’t want to wrap the roof rack but I will ask them again. I know people paint it on their own but not sure I feel comfortable painting my car.

You can't use those, with double sided tape.. there's 3 holes in the roof where a threaded stud comes through that hold the roof rails. You could delete the roof rails all together, bmw has a more flat/recessed black molding that sits in that channel, sort of like how a regular sedan or coupe would have.

My understanding is that they fit on top of the existing roof rails and are attached with double sided tape.

Correct, these are just a cover that stick onto the original rails to make them black, however for that price since you don't need to use them you could just order black moulding and do it right. These covers will eventually start coming off, and probably at the worst time while on the highway and end up hitting another vehicle.

If they do that would be a horrible idea, you'll still have the aluminum showing below where the cover mounts, the cover won't encapsulate what you already have.

Good to know, how long have you had them on for? Do you happen to have some pictures you can post?
