Diesel tune wasn't liking elevation change. I live at ~900ft, around 2500ft I was seeing some power loss and heavy smoke under light throttle input, indicating it was trying to burn too much fuel. The higher in elevation I got the worse it got, but around 6k it cleared up and then got worse again the higher I got from there. Reached out to the tuner, he stated it was because the tune doesn't have corrected fuel multipliers for all the different atmo pressures, so I fired up BimmerLink, recorded rpm range and atmo pressure where I had the worse symptoms and where it started to clear up, and he sent me adjusted tunes and I'd pull into a parking lot and flash the tune. We got it pretty good to where it only seemed to happen under heavy torque demand, and even then was still manageable. It still needs tweaking but now that I'm home I can't keep testing, so my next trip we will adjust some more.

I had always noticed it running a little off at higher elevations and figured it was the tune not being quite right, but pulling my trailer really exaggerated everything.

If it was me, I’d keep the decal and remove the black vent trim. Will make it look less busy. The decal actually is a nice touch on white, but is up to your personal style of course.

Interesting, running a euro import diesel tune and had no issue at elevation up here I WA, I will check next time more but usually runs like normal at elevation. Mine not that agressive tune and think I bump about 65hp/85-95 fl-lbs with no Boltons just KN filter.

The typical passes I go over are 3-4K above sea level, for reference, and definitely fly up there w ease.

Mine is a decently aggressive tune, and probably depends on who made the tune. I dont want to name drop on here, but mine was simply a result of not having the testing done at various elevations to fine tweak it. When he originally flashed mine he asked what elevation I lived at, and set the base multipliers to that elevation. In the past when I've been in the mtns with no trailer it's ran fine, I've just noticed very small things here and there that most people would probably never notice that indicated to me the tune might be a little off. But this time I was also pulling a trailer, so that exaggerated the symptoms and made them very obvious.

I never noticed anything without my trailer until probably 7k ft and up. Then it was real light and minor, but I could feel something

The decal doesn’t suit a lowered look IMHO. Put an actual side skirt if you want - Maxton?

Did you do the headlight trim yourself? I've been looking at getting those for mine

Which tunes/companies did you tested ?
Did you flashed the eco with phone or laptop ?
Thanks.
