elisiX's Carbon Black/Mugello Red F85 X5M

Hi all,

After a little back and forth, I will be picking up my new 2016 X5M tomorrow.

After owning the M50d for the past few months, I found myself feeling quite bored with the car even after trying to modify it slightly. It's not that the car is not quick, it is, however I desperately wanted something with more atmosphere and theatrics and I think the X5M will deliver on this and more. In comparison, it feels like everything is amped up 200%. My M50d journey; http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1188835

Coming from an Audi SQ5 which was a V6 twin turbo diesel, similar to the M50d being a V6 triple turbo diesel, the M50d seemed almost too refined. It's an incredibly luxurious highway cruiser with stacks of available torque, though it doesn't really excite the senses compared to the V8 twin turbo from the X5M. Add to this the sporting interior, aggressive exterior body improvements and it is a clear winner in this segment.

Not all happy endings are without their quibbles (http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1225308) however that said, i've over come any issues which were holding me back and I took some new pictures this morning during a second pre-inspection. I'm really excited about the drive tomorrow to pick up the car. I'll sit down and have a beer when I get home and just soak it all in.

The X5M is heavily optioned in Australia (we pay through the nose for the privilege), so the options list is quite small. Only things left out of the car are rear seat entertainment, heated steering wheel, rear seat heating, B&O and night vision which I wouldn't have optioned anyway had I submitted a factory order. Thankfully this car was in the country already when I begin investigating available cars and it was optioned exactly as I would have chosen.

Even luckier that your dealers on the East Coast are open on Sunday, here they only do 1/2 day Saturday!!!!!

No need for heated seats in this country.....lol

Just a quick update.

The night before I was due to pick-up the car (and trade the M50d), I found a buyer.

This delayed pick-up of the new car untill tomorrow, but everything is now sorted.

I've been back to the dealership almost daily since to co-ordinate various things.

It's been such a tease. Will upload some more pictures soon.

We are excited for you on this end! Post when you can.

Above all, enjoy the process. There are few things that are such happy moments like getting a new car.

I've been meaning to ask -- what are gasoline/petrol prices for you guys in Australia?

Thanks Luca42

Typically around the $1.20 a litre mark for 98.

Congrats on the upgraded ride elisiX! Report back on your findings on M50d versus X5M
I'm pretty sure the exhaust note will be a big upgrade for sure.
