Steering column squeak
Just started experiencing light squeak when going up and down while starting/stopping...time to disable via coding?

Yup.. It did the same to mine.. I had to have the steering column replaced twice in the last 3 years.

I don't remember what the part number is but I still have the work order document that has all the details that I can share when I get home later tonight.

CAN this be disabled in a 2017 without coding? I went into iDrive just now and nothing about disabling entry/exit for the steering wheel, and the owner's manual does not mention how to disable!
I turned it off in my last 3 Range Rovers and G-Class. It always seemed like a "fat person" option! LOL Last edited by deutsch100; 05-08-2018 at 04:35 PM.. |

Had this happen on a previous X I owned and they added some teflon tape somewhere to make the noise go away. My SA was very familiar with the problem. He also was familiar with everyone complaining the movement couldn't be shut off.

People were talking about 5000$ repair at the dealership. I doubt it is just a 55$ part. Could not confirm however, mine was covered by warranty. I would code it. Mine was making absolutely no noise or squeak before breaking down.

If the mileage is passed the warranty threshold.
