Shop recommendation Chicago suburbs?
Hello,
Any recommendations on good BMW independent shop mechanic to perform maintenance work on our X5? I got quoted almost $700 for plugs and $400 for cabin filter. I can do the filters but not feeling comfy with plugs despite great DIY write ups here... I am located in the Northern suburbs. I heard Europa in Winnekta was OK. I would like to avoid driving into Chicago city... Thanks! |

Arlington Performance Center in Arlington Heights, they specialize in German cars. I've been going here for 20 years.
http://www.arlingtonperformance.com/ There is another place that opened fairly recently (NCA Motorsports) by my folk's house in Skokie (closer to you) that specializes in BMWs. I have no first hand knowledge of NCA but you can look into them: http://ncamotorsports.com/ Hope that helps.

There's another place in Libertyville that has a good reputation (I've gone there in the past for oil changes etc):

Just got a quote from Arlington for plug change and it was under $400 vs. Dealer at close to $700. Assuming they do great work this could be my next shop

I got this from a Subaru guy who supposedly knew his stuff
I was trying to get my tuned 2010 FXT emission codes fixed, and nobody could do it- I ended up getting the x5- the guy mentioned he has a few clients that go to Eric Rosney of E Fab Motorsports.
No number but you can look it up. Never called the guy yet, the folks at Patrick BMW in Schaumburg are handling things for the moment. Again, no experience, but this was a good recommendation from a good Suub shop for my first x5. |

http://www.arlingtonperformance.com/ That's right by the Chestnut Avenue shortcut I use! Never knew they were there. I'll stop in next time. Thanks! |
