OEM Spare ok on XDrive

I'm finally going to ditch my RF's for the Toyo ST III's and wanted to pick up a spare. With that said is the spare ok to use with XDrive? I wouldn't be driving long distance if I had to use as I would go straight to the tire shop to have repaired/replaced.

Garage List
The OEM donut spare is the same rolling diameter of the factory wheels.

Have no experience personally, but we have the factory 20” wheels with the factory spare option which is 18”. One would think this would cause all sorts of issues with XDrive as while as ABS and DSC?

Thanks all! I think I read somewhere that as long as the circumference of tire is +/- 1% of stock size which it is should be ok. I don't ever plan on using the spare since I also have AAA but more so should something happen when my wife drives it. Some folks even have that Slime kit but as an alternative but worried that will kill the TPMS.

It should cause an issue as long as the rolling circumference is the same or within close spec...like 3% (+/-).

If you run your 20" tires and your 18" spare through a tire size calculator (easily found by googling "tire size calculator)...you'll see that their rolling circumference/diameter is either the same or almost the same (within that 3% +/- range).

Oh nice, I thought it was 1%. I did use the calculator to compare stock vs. spare.

I have 20" tires and ditched the runflats. I have the M performance brake upgrade so the minimum rim size I can run is 19" due to the bigger brakes. I run the spare that is for the X5M which is a 19" spare. Same concept at the 18". The ratio is minimal between the tires vs. spare. I have had to use it a few times unfortunately and never had an issue with any drivetrain warnings or issues.

You will be fine on the 18" spare if needed.

I carry a 19 inch X5M spare. The 18 inch ones dont clear the M performance brakes just incase you have them. Bought on ebay for $180. Absolutely ok to use and infact, I recommend it.
