Exclamation Bolt help! Fell out of my 2017 F15.

Found this guy on the ground after I moved the car. Has some red on the tip, didn't look like thread locker. I thought maybe there was a rough start when I turned the x5 on after finding the bolt but I'm probably paranoid. Any ideas? All help us greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Looks like a drain or fill plug for transfer case/differential.

Time to jack up the car, remove underbody shields and take a closer look.

Garage List
Transfer case and differential drain/fill plugs are allen head, not Hex.

If anything it almost looks like the motor oil drain plug.. but it cannot be because it is too short and you would not be asking this question. I am constantly under my F15 and I do not recall seeing a hex bolt that looks like that. Not to mention that every bolt I have removed from underneath the vehicle has straight edges or it's an ASA bolt.. this bolt has straight-round-straight edges.

It definitely looks like some sort of drain plug, but honestly I do not think it belongs to the X5.

Just doesn't look like a BMW plug... I wonder if it was dropped by some mechanic or operator on the assembly line down into your vehicle??

^ I agree.

Is the tip of it magnetic? Looks like an aftermarket magnetic drain plug that you would find on older BMW engines.
