Last year, BMW first introduced the world to the BMW Concept X5 eDrive and now the "concept" vehicle is visiting the New York Autoshow. This is by far one of the more interesting prospects for BMW in the realm of electrified vehicles, especially from the POV of people who can't yet make the full leap to the BMWi vehicles.

The X5 is powered by a combination of a BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder combustion engine and a 95-horsepower electric motor. This results in an average MPG of 62 and CO2 emissions of less then 90 grams per kilometer. The BMW Concept X5 eDrive obtains its electrical energy from a (lithium-ion) high-voltage battery, which is accommodated under the flat luggage compartment floor.

The X5 eDrive can be driven in 3 modes. In the fully electric mode, a maximum range of 19 miles is possible – at speeds of up to 75 mph.

How about putting this in the X3!
it would get over 70mpg

Also wonder why they didn't combine it with a Turbo D engine instead of gas

wonder what the price will be if this makes production.

Saw this today. The F15 needs 21" wheels IMO. The wheels on this x5 looked awesome in person. The rear tires were 325 wide which looked like steam rollers!

I like the idea. I would trade my E70 for that. But the wheels are hideous. Design from the 90's completely dated. The grill in blue is just as ugly. One, maybe two stripes ok. But the whole thing!

It won't matter much. If this does go to production it won't look the same

BMW somehow miss the point, IMO. It should be combined With the 30d. This thing is Going To be expensive and the batteries take up space. If Someone pays big bucks and makes life more inconvinient, You atleast want it To best a 30d in a Straight line. Why not just buy a 30d? How Can 340 bhp perform 0-62 in about 7 sec? Combine it With the 30d and who cares about the M50d not coming To the USA, Even I Will trade mine for it.
