Sat Nav screen start up
I am often confused as to regional build differences between the US and Europe, not even sure the build is consistent within each region myself but that could be me. Anyway not sure what version of Sat Nav I have but when it starts up I just get a rendered image of some random building NO disclaimers, same for the reversing camera (although that may be the same for us all). Couple of questions for the experienced out there:
1 - Given I get no disclaimers do you think I could still code the M Sport splash screen on start up? 2 - When you shift drive mode for example from "comfort" to "sport" can you stop this displaying on the Sat Nav screen which I would rather it did not, i.e you get the "comfort" or "sport" mode config option on the screen then it reverts back to the map or whatever you had it set to. |

2) Yes, this does not need to be coded. It's actually in your iDrive menu (second option). It has a check box. I forgot what it's called but this turns off that annoying delay/info that you are switching modes - I have it turned off as well .

1) Orange Lights - this cannot be coded for the dash lighting. Those are bulbs that only have amber color (no switchback LED to allow for multiple). You would have to physically open up the dash area and replace all the bulbs to a white led for them to show up white, sorry. People have done it...just a pain to do. 2) You can however code your 6WA extended cluster to white day time mode at night time if you don't like it switching to the orange night time mode. This will override your navigation to stay on daytime mode as well it seems: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=662851 CODES I LIKE: 1) Seatbelt coding - I hate the GONG period. It's in the coding list at the bottom of the OP in my BMW Coding Thread. 2) Fogs on with High Beams - helps light up the road even better with fogs on 3) Rear tail light DRLs - looks cool during the day time when you have your front halos on with the two taillight lines on 4) Side-mirrors folding with keyfob 5) Window roll up with keyfob, trunk with keyfob 6) Rear Tow Hitch Camera - very useful esp if you only have Rear View camera like me - it shows you literally the downward angle of your bumper so you can see if you are very close to a car/curb/cement block/garage wall/pet 7) Code everything in the cheat sheet except features you feel like you won't like/never use. I also only coded Rear two hitch camera, LED turn signals, auto/start-stop off by default and seatbelt coding from the coding list. I have pretty much coded everything in r33's cheat sheet except things in HUD (I don't have it), turning off the navigation and radio upon engine off and door open (I like to code with AC Power on and don't like anything to interrupt that), ventilation (I don't have ventilated seats)/heated seat coding (don't need it - I have the body heat of a bear ). If you have questions about codes, just ask in the coding thread and I'll do my best to explain each and its use so you can understand it better . Coding is fun - you learn a lot about what your car can and can't do. Most trial and error many of us have done already, and some of us are still finding new codes here and there as time goes on. I found in a 5 series forum this code today from someone who spent time looking for HUD coding. Not sure if it works, but anyone with HUD - go for it : Add Collision warning in HUD (requires ACC Stop and Go and HUD) :

If you have coded the M Splash screen and your car has been off for long enough to go to sleep, I think it was @WDImagineer in another thread on here that pointed out that you have to unlock the car and start it within 20 seconds for you get the full sat nav animation, whatever you have coded.

Hey buddy. So, go into iDrive menu. Select Control Display (2nd option), and there should be a check box under the brightness slider that deals with information display for the modes. Uncheck it and you're good to go.
