its in one of the settings for the driving modes, once i get in vehicle tonight i will come back and comment unless you figure it out or someone else chimes in.

you will come across it if you go into the settings... take a few to scroll around all the different menus

Here is what Opasha posted on an earlier thread and it works great.
Go into iDrive menu. Select Control Display (2nd option), and there should be a check box under the brightness slider that deals with information display for the modes. Uncheck it and you're good to go.
