2VM Price Justification ... Diesel vs Gasoline

So the price of the 2VM Comfort Dynamic Suspension (Dynamic Damper Control + Rear Air Axle Suspension) on the 2016 Canadian X5 is as follows:
- on a 35i (Gasoline): $1,500
- on a 35d (Diesel): $1,800

Those folks with technical expertise, can you please justify this price difference from a technical standpoint, or this is purely a rip off?

***update: the 35i too has gone up and now at $1,800***
No discussion here...except that everything has increased dramatically for 2016.
