BMW factory maintenance no longer honored for 2nd buyer and beyond!!!!
Hello,
I am the 2nd owner of my 2016 F85, when I bought back in May of 2017 I registered vehicle with BMW USA and all factory packages carried over. I still have email from BMW USA which shows this!!!! I called my dealer 2 weeks ago to schedule service (no mention of policy change)...I drop my car off yesterday and learn the factory maintenance package no longer applies to me and I have to pay a "refresh".... WTF??? I have had my car covered under the factory package for the passed 3 oil changes and visits. Now BMW changed the package rights back to original owner and they won't cover my service... As I mentioned, I had registered vehicle with BMW when I bought to avoid these types of problems. How can they just automatically changed back to original owner (wipe my info out) and tell me I have to pay refresh????? No notice, no updates service terms... just changed it back. I'm contemplating legal action, any other issues out there? |

Bought my 2016 X5M as well recently and I was informed by dealer about this. I think sometime in 2016 is when this change happened. But the warranty (4 yr/50K mi) still applies to subsequent owner.
Your dealer should have informed you. |

This was not a problem 2-3 weeks ago when I called dealer... This was implemented in dramatic fashion and for BMW to change to ownership details without my consent is unacceptable. I still have plenty of factory coverage left!!! |

I reviewed arguments with my attorney and we decided this warrants formal discussion with BMW North America, LLC. To support the argument and achieve the goal to reverse "refresh" it would be great to have a list of owners who experience they same issue. Could you please pm me your name and email address? We are drafting communication this week and plan to send towards end of next week. |

to clarify, I took over the lease for X6M from the original "buyer";
I couldn't transfer his initial BMW maintenance under my name but the dealership said I can "refresh" it and pay $750; this new maintenance is for 2 years and transferable to the next owner ...see the attached picture |

Unfortunately, this is old news. This has been in place for quite some time. Your SA might turn a blind eye if you're the second owner because the original owner's information might still be in the system. The second you switch that over to YOU being the new owner, your factory maintenance is now dropped.

when I went with my X6M as a second owner they said " the maintenance it's free, don't worry"...and me being a smart ass I said "are you sure? I know it's not transferable to the second owner, please double check"...and of course they "double-checked" and I had to pay for refresh |
