First post..... I just picked up a 2017 X5M and was thinking of going the bootmod3 route. Has anyone that is running tunes replaced their spark plugs to one step colder and re-gapped them? I remember reading that somewhere it was recommended to go one step colder and gap to .018" because of the increased boost.

Did the JB4 blow your engine or could it have been a problem that would have happened anyways? This engine platform is stout, a tested and proven engine. Things do happen in the manufacturing process that would leave you with a ticking time bomb. Did they cover it under the warranty? If so the JB4 product is worth its weight in gold. And for those that say that the manufacturer should not be held liable for this.... maybe you are right... but I would reference the VW emissions scandal as proof that they are the in it to make that dollar dollar bill y'all. If you think for that one second BMW or Mercedes didn't do the same thing, well, keep living in the Bubble and prepare that virgin ass of yours for a pounding with no lube the day they can ram you like the Patriots playing the Jets. (OBVIOUSLY A PATRIOTS FAN.)

Interesting comments without any actual experience. I am running bm3 on both my m4 and x5m. So bm3 is not just for inline 6. In addition bm3 is a tuning platform. It is a interface which you can load ots tunes provided or bought by pro tuning freaks or purchase custom tunes from other tuners
Im running OTS tunes from BM3. More than enough on both rides. These are full tunes and cannot be compared to a race chip, dinan or any other piggy back. Night and day difference. I have ran both. Dont let uneducated comments confuse you about the product. I have been more than happy with the bm3. Before I would have to pull my ecu, ship my ecu and my car would be down for several days. If any issues I would be screwed I can switch between tunes, including stock map within less than 1 min. I am not tech savvy and used to have my local shop upload the tunes until they showed me and its really that easy |

Let also say my bm3 has been more reliable than my piggy back that used to throw CEL once and awhile.

So I've had my bm3 installed for about 5 days now, 91 octane stage 1, I think it's great. One thing I noticed in sport , and this isn't always but about 80 percent of the time, the steering actually feels a little stiffer than before my flash. I could be imagining this, but I don't know I'm almost positive I feel the steering tighten up more than before the flash, which is a great thing. Is this possible?

I tuned BM3 stage 2 91 octane with VRSF catless DPs last week. Been snowy here so limited time to put down power.
I did get a dragy run of 12.12 @ 114.22mph with a wet/slick launch. 1.93 60ft. 0-60 in 3.97, 3.76 with 1 ft roll out. DA was 8700ft. Not a bad time. I expected to be in the 11s and close to 115mph in the dry. My only run stock was 12.31 at 112.08mph. 1.85 60ft. 0-60 in 4.16, 3.93 with 1 ft roll out. DA was 9300ft. Feel wise, more power everywhere. Doesn't come on too abruptly down low. My MHD stage 2 F30 340i was pretty abrupt at low RPM with how the boost hit. Made car feel jerky. Top end is way fatter. Just pulls everywhere. I love it! |
