Help deciding on wheel options for my 35d
I am going back an forth between a few wheel options and would like opinions and possibly pictures.
I have a 2015 35d with stock 19's. Looking for upgraded wheels to enhance the look and feel of the car. Planned upgrades are fender flares and possibly a minor drop. Plan on towing a 19' boat this summer. NYC roads and long commutes for daily. I'm thinking 20s because of crappy roads and intended towing. Most everyone I see is gettings 22's - Can anyone share their experiences with towing on 22s or lowered vehicles? Would like runflats because having no spare is a bit scary especially in NY, but open to discussion because I hear non rfts feel better on the road. Options: Used OEM 20" 451 - $1500-$2000 on average Positives: Perceived strength, OEM look, most come with run flats and some with set of tpms. Keep their value. Negatives: Cant find any locally (added shipping costs), used tires, need spacers to attain preferred aggressive look. Replicas 20" - Multiple options on OEM styles - $1600 Quoted locally with tires installed and tpms switched from stockers. Positives: New wheels, new tires, can find local, many styles available. Negatives: Perceived strength, adding run flats gets expensive, have had bad luck with cracked replicas in the past (22" on E70) Low resale value. need spacers to achieve "the look" Rohana RFX11 - $2600 approximately Positives: I like the style, rotary forged (Implies strength?), New tires Negatives: Not RFT at this price, price, cannot find any pictures of X5 running 20's Im open to others with similar look of Rohanas as long as the price is right and I can see how they would look the vehicle. I know there are alternatives like buying a used set of RFTs on eBay and getting wheels separately, buying reps with new RFT's, buying a space saving spare? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Last edited by tito12121; 03-06-2020 at 11:25 PM.. |

I see a guy listing 20" 599M for $2500 with tires, those are reps which is ridiculous. I've seen people selling reps for $1200 with curb rash and used tires. Theres better deals on here but nothing local so far. Closest I found was a guy in Jersey but he's selling 336's. I will keep browsing until I pull the trigger, hopefully soon since I have cash on hand. Thanks for the suggestion though. |

Why do you care for RFT? I am running 19 wheels with RFT right now, but once tires are done I'm switching to 20" wheels and non RFT. Better ride, cheaper, more options.

I'm just worried about not having a spare.... but I'm willing to overlook that. It would just be nice not to have to worry about that especially on long interstate trips.

NICE! That is a really good price and good looking wheels. Also finally a non m sport with nice wheels, gives me a better idea of what mine will look like with flares. What brand are they?

I found them, SF-03 Flow Forged, they are similar to the Rohanas I was looking at but cheaper. They have different sizes based on the color chosen.
I have a bad taste in my mouth from my last set of Stance wheels, had a rim crack down the center of the barrel after hitting a pothole on my 3 series. Granted they were not "flow forged" or "rotary forged" but I have never had a rim do that in the past. I will try to find the picture and post it. Hopefully these are stronger, good luck with them, would love to hear how they hold up a couple years from now. Shoutout to VIBE Motorsports for selling me a discontinued set that I could never get a replacement for and then leaving me high and dry. |
