Today I mounted a set of winter 19" wheels on my F85 X5M. They do clear the OEM brakes.
TSW Pescara, 8.5" width, ET35, with the correct bolt pattern and hub centric, they are a direct fit. Very happy to go to 19"s for the brutal winters here and in Canada! |

I have been running 21s with the Pirelli Scorpion Snow tires (285 front 325 rear) and have been happy with them with light snow 3-5 inches and general ice conditions. Have not tried them with anything above that. Kind of a hard-to-find tire nowadays but the dealers seem to stock them.

Just my observation, in you reside in an area that sees snow regularly, then you can get by if the snow is only a few inches on all-season tires.
But if you get feet of snow, then buy some dedicated snow tires. All-wheel drive will not, I repeat will not save your a** from a trip to the body shop.

The wheels are TSW Pescara, 19x8.5" ET35, they are the right bolt pattern and hub size for a direct fit to the X5M. In the front we used a 12mm spacer, in the rear a 30mm spacer (the type that screws onto the hub and then you screw the wheel bolts onto the spacer, from H&R). This leaves the front wheels 2mm more sunken in than stock and the rears are 5mm more sunken in, which is fine as this is a winter setup. It goes without saying this rides much, much better than the stock summer 21"s or the prior set of 20" OEM winters we used. Photos: |
