A wheel bearing usually roars instead of squeaks. Make sure the backing plates didn't get bent to where they touch a brake rotor, and also make sure no rocks got stuck between the rotor and backing plate. I've had that happen before and it can make quite a racket.

How new are the brakes and did this noise start after the new breaks installation?

Not OEM rims. Rims been on there for quite a while. The noise started about a week ago I thought it was the brake pads so I changed them now it’s still making it Think maybe now it’s the rotors because I didn’t change them and are measuring 34mm. Just ordered new ones.

That was going to be the next question. Once you get the new rotors make sure you bed the breaks in properly. Very important. If you search my name in the group for my posts I discuss the bedding process. I had big issue, like many of us do, with the brakes and squealing noise. Without getting into a long drawn out explanation, BMW changed out my Rotors and brake pads. Within a month the sound was not only back but it was worse.
The only thing that fixed it was ordering brakes from Amazon called power stop Z23 evolution series. Once installed I made sure I bedded them in properly and I’ve been happy ever since. Unfortunately, you lose a bit of the initial bite you get with OEM brakes.
I asked if they were OEM wheels to make sure they are not rubbing somewhere on the inside.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Oh crap, front drive shaft u-joint failure. Is your transmission ok? Usually it takes that out when it goes and hits the transmission making a rather large hole in your transmission.

You need one of the upgraded driveshafts that Tony sells on here!

Looks like the only other damage is one cooling fin. Should be fine right?

Dentprotony is his handle on here.

I’d replace the transmission oil pan no matter what. You don’t know if there are other issues that have compromised the other fins.

FCPEuro has full kits to to this.

If that is the only think broken, that has got to be the luckiest fail, ever. Of all time. But yeah, new pan, gasket bolts.

dentprotony@gmail.com <- he has upgraded drive shafts, and also makes drive shaft containment shields. Check out his posts.

This is exactly why I just proactively replaced mine at 74k miles with one of Tony's shafts. It is absolutely the solution to this problem. I'm glad to see your damage is minimal.

I emailed him at his handle and got a reply. Seems like a production batch is being fulfilled. Should email him.

Yikes. Is your car modified at all? If not, I'd raise this issue with BMW. I think people have had things repaired even post warranty. I would think a 2018 would have as good a chance as any.

I agree but it’s a design issue. The splines are very short, the U Joints non serviceable. The U Joint loosen at all then play, adding vibration and frequency that gets exacerbated into making the short splines a bogger weak spot.

I just ordered a new driveshaft from Tony to mitigate this from happening. These cars own extraordinary hp and weight, this is a weak spot for them.

you'll be fine with that broken fin! probably it happened when you were going slow.... i can't imagine it blowing out when going fast.. it would tear it all up down there!
